Demons Souls Euro Release

Whats the best version of the game out including imports? Might have to buy this - especially as it stopped Surfer playing FIFA for so many months...

Playing as a knight at the moment, but I can't get the hang of 'countering' the enemy attacks. Apparantly it is the L2 button, but I can't time it properly, anyone got any tips? Trying to pull off a Riposte move.

I also found the first boss quite easy, just had to hide behind the pillars and heal when necessary. Just waited for an opening and slashed away. Good fun though!

What should I do next? 2-1, 3-1 etc? Also what should I be buying with my souls? I have about 4k at the moment, after spending some repairing armor and stuff. Not entirely sure whether I should be going for spells or stuff, seeing as knight seems to be more of a melee user... but maybe they would be useful.

Easiest way to riposte is to press L1 when your behind the enemy. Souls can be used to purchase/repair & upgrade equipment (you will need stones for equipment upgrades) as well as levelling up your character via the maiden.
The Knight is well balanced so can use magic etc but you will need to find a catalyst to cast spells (there's a basic one in 1-2)

No difference between versions (imports) but the black phantom edition is really nice (guide, artbook & soundtrack).

to be honest when i first started this months ago i just couldnt get into it , but now ive found the maiden i can finally spend some of my souls . problem was i didnt speak to her so i just kept fixing my weapons and thinking this is impossible :D

just attempted 2-1 got right to the end to get killed in one swipe luckly i had spent my souls back at the nexus .
still looking for the bow so i can do this spider , the wooden crossbow just tickles him .
 
  • Completed it
  • loved it
  • started again
  • fell down a hole with 150k souls in bank (as stupid woman in black wouldn't let me upgrade soul level until i had completed the first level)
  • went back to find souls
  • bloodstain was on a TINY beam of wood halfway down drop
  • jumped to get it
  • LANDED AND GOT SOULS BACK!
  • Fell off and died again
  • Rage quitted
  • Realized i had the sanctuary spell
  • Retrieved souls
  • Used that
  • Felt silly.

ATM it's kill a bunch of guys, encounter dragon or big spear knight dude > die. :D

Dragon can be survived when crossing the bridge if timing is used.

Big spear guy will spear you until you're much, much stronger.

Basically to survive this game you need to accept that every challenge you see may not necessarily be intended for you and to avoid accordingly.

I believe its people really struggling with the level. I am sure if you recommend that message they get health healed.

Personally I never recommend those type of messages.
 
Doh! I was farming 1-1 earlier just trying to get a handle on the game, I noticed the dragons had disappeared so went and grabbed all the items by them, reading up on it I now realise it meant the World Tendency must have been Pure White so I missed out on getting into the other area :(

So which route should I be taking? The bridge?

Furthest I've got so far is not far past opening the big gate at the start where the shield boss thing is.
 
got it the other day and i can see why people are saying its hard, it took me about 5 hours to get past the first bit, but im loving it and killed quite a lot of demons now :)

probably the best game ive played in years on any system :)

Speak to Ostrava (yes he's trapped again) and then go accross the bridge to the first tower, go down, left & save Ostrava, then right (watch out for the dogs :)) to the 2nd tower, then back up along the bridge to the boss (Tower Knight)

Only if you already have Pure bladestone (highly unlikely), if not happy hunting :D

P.S. If anyone already has pure bladestone and wants to share it that would be great for my sanity :D

Got the pure bladestone first time ;) Infact, I believe I have 3-4.

Grinding chunks of cloudstone took the longest.

I want to get this but not too sure. The review on IGN looks amazing, everyones comments are getting me giddy about it but what can we compare it to?

If its like Oblivion i cant be bothered with it. (Oblivion was great but requires a lot of hours to get the most from it).

Can i pick up and play this about 3 times a week?
 
It is nothing like obilivion tbh, i guess the combat is kinda similar (but demon's souls is much better). I didn't like oblivion but i adore this, it's much more focused on action and tense combat. I actually managed to complete my first runthrough in less than 20 hours so three times a week would be more than sufficient.
