Watercooling checklist

Glad I went with compressions they feel nice and weighty, finish is excellent too. I didn't want to go as big as I have but I couldn't get the hose or fittings I wanted. I have plenty of case to fill so big is good :)

Finally ordered the rest heres the final list, will start a project in the case section when i get going. Will be going in a gloss black powder coated lian li v2000 (thanks phoenixdancer).

are u seroius...i didnt know you need so many different bits for watercooling..lol forget that am sticking to my heatsink.

cpu block
pump
rad
res
fittings
fans
fan controller
anti bacterial
water.

You can simplify things by using something like the swiftech drive rad, its a rad/res and pump all in one. Then all you need is a cpu block, tubing, 4 fittings and fluid.

Yeh there are a lot of combo things about, pump/res, rad/res, rad/res/pump.

It only gets to a lot of stuff, when u are cooling every thing.

For example a simple cpu only loop is Rad, Res, pump, block, fittings and tubing.

Watercooling is not for everyone, if you think a list of components looks complicated it probably is not for you. If your still interested read, read a lot. I have slowly researched and got upto speed with watercooling over the past few months and feel much more confident than i did when i started. I wanted to reduce temperatures and noise but i also enjoy building things and will enjoy this aspect of the build as much as the end results.

Just finalising my first loop, i'm looking for great thermal performance with very low noise. After a few weeks reading everything i could find (xs, skinnee, martin etc) i have come up with this spec.

Block Heatkiller 3.0 cu
Pump d5 vario
Rad hwlabs sr-1 420
Res xspc d5 tank
Barbs ½ Bitspower silver fat boy
Tubing 7/16 id 5/8 (im after primochill lrt but i cant find this size in the uk)
Fans 3x Xigmatek XLF-F1454
Clamps koolance 16mm clamps
Silver kill coil
Hose cutter
Distilled/de ionised water.

I will be mounting the rad vertically in the front of my case, so some amount of modding will be required leaving me a single drive bay for my dvd/bluray. Looking forward to this bit :D

Any comments will be greatly appreciated as i think i have done all that i can myself.

i would change that heatkiller 3.0 for a xpsc rasa block! It FAR outperforms it and is cheaper to boot!

I got the block on the mm for £30 :)
I'm not a great fan of the rasas looks and it's as much about aesthetics as it is performance for me. I am still considdering an ek supreme full nickel though, would match my fittings nicely.

Also the variation in each core temperatures in that review seem rediculously out of whack and look like the hk was poorly mounted. Here's Bundymania's delta chart, don't think i'll be losing any sleep over 0.2 degrees :)
