Project: Angel

Look forward to seeing this one completed w3bbo, certainly agree with your point about the gtx 280's, more than enough for any current game, use two gtx 275's here on a 4ghz i7 920, copes grand with anything im playing. Nice choice on the bitspower silver diamond barbs, was contemplating a cpu loop for my own rig, bought a few of those but had to put that plan on hold due to financial constraints.:(

Finances aint an issue - time is unfortunately! Hope to get some more done tonight or sunday. At least get a dummy run sorted and prime the pumps!

So I got a little more done this weekend.

The new bitspower barbs sorted out the leaks I was having from the old d-tek barbs:

However, I had issues with one of the rotarys as it sprung a leak too but as it was slightly compressing part of the tubing anyway, I opted to remove it completely from the setup and replace it with a plain barb. So here's the new tubing layout:

Looks a little better than before but I reckon I'll also change the input to the heatkiller as that looks a little stretched and could be smoother, good job I bought plenty of spare tubing eh?

I've also chopped the ikea curtain pole down to size and braced it to the motherboard tray which has evened things out a little and given the tray much more stability:

While I was on a roll, I began to do a little cable tidying. Anyone who has owned a mountainmods case will tell you that they are notoriously poor for cable management so this is in the forefront of my mind when making this build.

I know I will never be able to completely hide all of the cabling so making it look as neat as possible was the task at hand, so I began with the SATA cables which were braided earlier:

Because the case has loads of fans I needed something to keep the fan cables tidy. Lucky for me a fellow forum member helped me out with some nifty little ties that work a treat should you have ample screw holes:

They come in plenty of sizes too so depending on your cable number/width, the right size could be chosen to minimise clutter:

More to follow later this week.;)

wow. a lot of hard work went into this build. its amazing man. im thinking also a lot of money as well :) how did you get sponsored for free fans tho ?

The build so far has cost me very little thanks to sponsorship :). The case was provided by mountainmods (USA), the PSU and fans were provided by Enermax. Those are the main sponsors of the build. The majority of hardware was horded from my reviewing days (OC3D), the only thing I've really paid for was the watercooling and most of that was taken from previous builds so all in all it is a very cheap build :).

Sponsorship is something that comes with word of mouth, build some nice builds, get yourself noticed on the performance pcs scene and ask around.

Minor update:

Finished of bleeding the loop the other night (still a few minor bubbles to get rid off but they will go soon enough ;). Also added a couple of LEDs to the XSPC res's:

Did a bit more braiding this time a couple of molex splitters and the cabling for the cathodes:

Painted invertors:

I'll be using a combo of 2x blue for the motherboard area and a couple of white for the water/rad area.

Decided to 'upgrade' the ram from the 1600MHz Patriot Viper to some lush 2000MHz CAS7 OCZ Blades:

..with the Corsair ram coolers fitted:

Cheers m8. Not a great deal left to do now tbh. Fit the PSU and all that goes with it inc cable tidy. That is perhaps the only difficult job I have left now :), it's finally taking shape n I like what I see.

Just had a glance at the review for the ocz blades, very nice ram, currently run the cas 7 reapers here (1600mhz kit), can be a bit cumbersome though due to the heatpipe. Nice to see this project coming together w3bbo, really looks the part.:)

As im currently running at 21x193 theyre only at 1547mhz, 7-7-7-24 1T, havent tried running them any higher yet.

Quite honestly, on fan controllers they run pretty much silent. I wouldn't say they needed them no, but then the pc doesn't need 4 rads either! Gues I should rename this build overkill!

overkill angel (got uppsy daisy angel in my head now - thanks of that :))
angelic overkill, Hmmmm :D

Good to see this back up and running again,
hope you get the time to finish it to your usual high standard

I had a bit of a mare this weekend. Everything was going well and got everything hooked up, all LED's and cathodes appeared to be working fine then the missus came in my 'workshop' and said 'why is one set of light blue and the others purple'.

'WHAT?!?!?'

One of the fan controllers decided to throw a hissy fit and the LED's no longer change colour, instead they are all purple regardless of RPM. The voltage regulation works fine so it controls the fans as it should but the LEDs are both on at the same time (red+Blue = purple). I could leave it as is as it is barely noticeable but being the perfectionist I simply cant leave it like that ;).

Luckily I managed to scrounge one from the MM so will all be sorted this week along with final pics and perhaps a video :D.
