OcUK's plans for the future and new blood...

vBulletin has a built in reputation system, which I guess could be enabled. But it doesn't really work too well tbh. I mean people above are suggesting elitism... and the rep system kind of promotes that behaviour sadly.

And people tend to get all bent up when they recieve negative rep.

Yep you know little groups of people who talk on msn will vote each other up once a day etc and vote down whoever they dislike every day.

No one ever votes on "how useful a post was" but by how much it disagreed with their views.

It might work in some of the hardware sections as long as fan boys can be controlled and the system required you to give a comment not just a point up or down. However in GD it would just degenerate into "i don't like him etc".

Also it would be a lot of extra work for dons to moderate what is said in coments and the petty disagreements caused by it.

I think OCUK is biased towards "the good old boys". You always see brown nosing from these "Man of Honour" of the people above "10k posts"...

Just read the Welcome back Gibbo thread, you would think all the posters were his best friends or brothers.

The mods seem biased towards people who have been here many years and don't appear to moderate their threads as much as new members.

That's because most older members know the rules better. As for the Gibbo thing, the forums really weren't the same without him. His deals are also the best, I'm not sucking up, it's just a fact. Of course, this is only based upon *my* experience of when *I've* needed something the deals he's had were the best.

You do seem to forget that many people on the forum have met him personally on numerous occasions in a social setting.

I've never met him, although he's welcome to come to my country house for a BBQ, so long as he doesn't bring any chav motors to the house.:D

Which reminds me I have to organise the =VTA= BBQ for next month.

I know, idiots really. People just like feeling part of something bigger, even if it means lying to themselves.

Are you serious?

I've never met Gibbo or spoken to him on a personal level but I'm glad his coming back as he was a great asset to the forums (and no doubt the shop), it's great having a purchasing manager(?) like him offering deals and interacting with forum members, it's stuff like that which makes OcUK different than most other company's, the level of interaction between the company and the general consumer on here is great, it help creates a bond between customers and the shop, rather than feeling like your dealing with some faceless corp, I like companies that have personality and OcUk definitely has that imo, even if it's a little controversial at times.
