Street Fighter V.S. Tekken

Based on the above gameplay clip. This game will adapt the Tekken characters to a strictly 2D-SF(4) style gameplay. The future Tekken x StreetFighter game will probably adapt the Street Fighter characters moves into a 3D-plane Tekken style.

The 2nd game sounds more interesting tbh. There has been numerous SF games where they grab characters from another franchise and adapt them to fight SF chars. Not seen the same really done with Tekken games, before.

I can see Tekken working ok on a 2D pane but not Street Fighter, projectiles will just be plain odd.

Then again I guess being able to sidestep them will be a good thing since Tekken characters won't really have any other tools to get around them. (considering Tekken has none)

Capcom mainly discussed its side of the conflict, which will be called Street Fighter X Tekken. That's "Street Fighter Cross Tekken" if you're saying it out loud, sort of like Namco X Capcom, the crossover RPG that Namco released on the PS2. The upcoming fighter will be a two-on-two tag battle game, and so far Ryu and Chun-Li are confirmed for the SF side while Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams are set on the Tekken side. Dan also makes an appearance in the trailer, but that's not exactly confirmation that he'll appear in playable form. Capcom's game will run on the same engine technology that powered Super Street Fighter IV.

Namco will also develop and release a crossover fighter. If naming conventions hold, this game will probably end up going by Tekken X Street Fighter. That's how Capcom and SNK handled it when they did a similar character swap for Capcom vs. SNK and SNK vs. Capcom. But all of that is unconfirmed at the moment and no actual details on this game are available.

Street Fighter X Tekken was introduced with a teaser trailer featuring Street Fighter's Ryu facing down Tekken's Kazuya Mishima in a pre-rendered sneak peek presented in Street Fighter IV's sketchy, inky visual style. The game, pronounced "Street Fighter cross Tekken" will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Following the announcement, Ono surprised the crowd by holding up a Blu-ray disc with a copy of the game, then provided attendees with a live, playable demo.

Street Fighter X Tekken appears to feature Street Fighter IV's gameplay mechanics, locked onto a 2D plane, with both Tekken and Street Fighter characters performing EX-style super moves. The match started off with Ryu versus Kazuya Mishima, but Ono and Harada tagged in two more characters, Street Fighter's Chun-li and Tekken's Nina Williams. Ryu deployed his trademark fireball Ultra move, with Kazuya later following that up with his spinning electrified uppercut.

Harada followed that playable match with an announcement of his own, confirming that Tekken X Street Fighter is also in development at Namco. That game is rumored to play in the style of Tekken, with contestants fighting in a 3D arena.

Ono said the games won't be out "for a while" and that fighting game fans should enjoy Marvel vs. Capcom 3 while they wait.

I like the look of the game, street fighter plays pretty well but I've never been that into the characters really or the story but I like most other fighters characters. Marvel vs capcom always got my interest but this isn't quite as good yet I like the look of it. I will have to think on getting this.

I read that capcom are doing the SF vs tekken based on the SF4 engine. And namco are doing tekken vs SF which is based on the tekken 6 engine. So whichever game you prefer out of tekken or SF then you just choose that option.

I prefer the SF style, as Tekken has always felt a bit slow for me. But, I'll be more interested to see how Namco interpret the SF characters.

I was looking forward to showing up some SF lovers with my Dragunov goodness but now it seems that there are two games being developed I guess all the SF buffs will choose the version where the Tekken characters are nerfed. :(

You can say the exact opposite with Street Fighter though! They are gonna have to give the SF characters all launchers and juggling abilities to even remotely compete with the Tekken bunch! (in 3D, that is)

Yeah that's true.

After watching those vids I don't care which version I buy, it looks amazing!

That looks pretty damn sexy, and the artistic direction in that opening trailer. Nice

Also, I love how excited people get at those conventions. I need to get to one

Well they will have to tone down sf projectiles as mostly tekken characters don't have projectiles.

If a Tekken character manages to get in close and start a juggle then it could be game over pretty much. We'll have to wait and see how they implement that aspect of it. Same with the SF character's projectiles as said above, it will be interesting.
