OcUK's plans for the future and new blood...

This starring out swearies is the stupidest rule going.
Everybody knows what the swearie is so the rule should be no swearies at all.
It really isn't hard not to swear, it's also less words to type.

It's certainly open to interpretation. How can anyone be sure if "***kies" was really meant to say cookies? :D

Reminds me of the old adage "does a tree fall in the forest if nobody hears it fall".

I think if you saw a tree lying on the floor in the forest it'd be quite easy to deduce how it got there.

I've been suspended for posting a not fully starred out swearing once

I disagree with how the line is drawn on those issues, anything short of showing the actual naughty bits should be allowed picture wise, and anything short of saying the full word should be allowed (so starring out 1 letter should be enough)

It's interesting to note that even the BBC news website doesn't fully star out swear words, so technically they can't be linked.

Well, I sweared without fully staring it out [didn't notice that part in rules ******* ****!] and got a slap. I'm trying to be a good girl now. :) No swearing. :D
Somebody said it's less to type, and I have to agree on that one. ;)

It wasnt that at all mate, it was more the little snidy posts people (who apparently just by coincedence) have a bmw or series of bmw's in their signatures, such as, on a thread where someone is asking if anyone has owned a passat and what was it like etc, they put "its ok i suppose, for a vw" or "its rubbish, buy a 318i instead" and other such comments. Look at them from a normal perspective, for example if you owned a passat and not a bmw, and you would see how it can easily be percieved.

Its also the same that you stated someone had gone from merely ok to "instant awesomeness" because they bought a ropey old xsara gti with a supercharger, when you just happen to have owned a xsara as your first car.... then the next minute you know everyone is quoting your comment with "+1" etc. If i came on and said id just bought a mg metro turbo for £400 you would be telling me how **** it is.

There is definetly the element of "we are better than you because of what we drive" in motors and I am not the only other "troll" who dont agree with your bmw cliques presence.

All so you have for gotten that if you are not a top photographer your car is **** :D

It's comments like this that led to these silly myths gaining ground.

I am a shocking photographer, I even have a half decent camera and still can't take a good picture to save my life but I manage to just about scrape though. You needed to see these pictures to beleive them - he literally abandoned the car in a bus stop, legged it 200 yards up the road in the pitch black, and then snapped a couple of burry photos. You could barely even tell what make of car it was.

Yet still to this day he's convinced people tore it to shreds because it wasn't a BMW!

The car itself is pretty decent I thought, I even said so at the time, numerous times infact. Obviously this was ignored because it's more fun to pretend everyone hated it because it isn't a BMW, right? The guy's a student and has a 2002 Passat - not bad going at all, exactly what I said at the time as well.

Ironically the majority of posters in Motors do not even like BMW's, find them dull, and make this point at every opportunity anyway, yet for some reason this is always ignored when it's 'have a moan' time...

Your posting was hilariously bad, I come to blows with BMW 'sport' owners all the time because I think they are terrible compared to the over inflated opinion on them that the BMW crew have, the issue was not them, it was you. Sorry to break it to you.

The problem is many of the more interesting posters we're banned sometime ago. There's already been an amnesty and they didn't come back, bridges have been burned.

^ What do you mean by that?

We get told off for discussing Apple products in the Mobile Phone forum.

It's quite silly.

No it wasnt, it was taken 3 feet away at 18mm on a 1.4 crop sensor, in the dark with an sb600, on devils point. Your grossly overexaggerating. The bus stop one was in the daylight on the road that leads from the Hoe to Milbay, again from around 10 feet away.

I got responses such as "it wouldnt be so bad if it was a decent car" to "no one wants to see pics of a ***** passat".

And then someone posts up pics of their 318i and cue a thread 3 pages long of how great their new car is.
