if career criminals/murderers that were given a easy sentence were getting picked off by someone would you be in favour or against such an action?

just wondering after reading the thread about 2 guys killing a guy and only getting 4 years.

Would it then be acceptable to kill the killer of the murderers as he is now a murderer him self?

Couldn't care less to be honest. As long as he didn't chose Rothbury as a place to hide out again when being chased by the police.

In fact i think I'd be in favour of it. Its a valid point above in that the person doing the killing would be just as bad as the killers themselves... but still. I think id rather have 1 person who is killing killers, than lots of killers getting 4 years.

I would be against it because it would give the impression people could take the law into their own hands. Possibly breed copy cats that could potentially hurt them selfs, sort of like that film kick ass. There was a documentary similar to what you discuss with Louis Theroux in South Africa where the community where sentencing criminals and brutally beating them.

Our good ol' UK law enforcement in action.

But then we all have to take a step back and realize we live in a country that let the Lockerbie airplane killer off on "compassion".

What hope have we got for justice when it comes to street crimes!

Vigilantes are condoned for a reason, there is a proper way for things to be done; however incapable a sytem or persons maybe of doing things the proper way, I wouldn't want people to suddenly take the law unto themselves.

Aye, surely as soon as this vigilante kills a criminal he would have to kill himself to be a true vigilante seeing as he is now a murderer
