Do people get banned in error? I thought VAC was clear cut enough. Seen loads of threads on the steam forums with people saying they got banned for no good reason. Always comes out that they did in fact use a hack but "forgot" it was there, their "brother" must have done it or best of all "OMFG MY STEAM ACCOUNT MUST HAVE BEEN HAXED!!!!1!1!"

They way I see it there are 1000's of people out there who now have two copies of L4D2. Why not ask for somebody to gift me?
"In error" was the key phrase you missed. Steam have admitted it was their **** up for every real hacker, 10 innocent people got banned. So they have given them two copies of L4D2 to compensate. So if you have it already, some people will have 2 to give away as gifts.

i dont have l4d2 and if i did have a spare copy i dont think i would feel compelled to gift it to someone who begged on a forum
And nobody is compelling anybody
I am asking (politely) or begging if you want. It's up to any forum users on here if they want to gift me or not.
If nobody does then no harm done and I won't be crying in my milk over it.

People can beg for what they want. You don't have to give it to them or even read the thread.
Come on. There is at least one thread per week asking if somebody has something that they got free on steam and asking for it to be gifted.
Equally there are normally at least one thread per week with somebody offering to gift a free gift from Steam as they already own it.
Take Bioshock when Steam gave it away free with Bioshock 2. I gifted my copy away to somebody on this forum.
So I thought I would ask first.
