**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I have 2 questions

1. I have a Battlenet account already nuts it's a US one , can I therefore assume, to play the uk version I will need to create a uk battlenet account?

2. I have never played the previous version, and I don't really understand all the hype. Is it just like Red Alert and other C&c games ??! What makes it special?

1. I'm guessing yes since I don't think you can add EU games to a US battle.net.

2. It's like Red Alert and C&C in style yes, but it's just a hell of a lot more polished, so many small things are making me smile so far, like the misson hub being set in a bar, having a juke box etc. The story of the campaign unfolding as you play etc. It just feels a lot more complete compared to the C&C games.

As somebody who played the first, and thought it was 'OK' and hasnt followed the hype even a little bit with the second generation, can anybody reccommend why i should get this game. My primary concerns with the first game were:

  • terrible cheating AI that knows where everything is and gives itself non-existent resources
  • there is a special place reserved in hell for micromanagement-essential strategy games.

Play multiplayer ;)

there is a special place reserved in hell for micromanagement-essential strategy games.

Micro isn't essential. Good macro will win you more games. Up to silver-ish level of play, basic micro like army positioning and not just attack moving into your enemy is perfectly acceptable micro. If you have superior macro than your opponent you will win, unless his micro is pro-level.

Hello there :)

Just installing my copy, hope it lives upto hipe . Funny thing was picked it up after doing some shopping 1 hr ago, Asdas in swansea dont sell PC games so no luck there, so went over to the Purple People place for a look
They only had 3 copies in, 1 for manager,1 for the guy i was speaking too and i had the other copy :D. I was expecting a long line of people waiting to buy the game, no nerds, no nerd rage, total fail :(
Never played starcraft so i know i am gonna fail hard on battle net and smash my PC up and go into a nerd rage and logg :D

Why is there seperate EU and US servers? Doesnt it mean there will be top players in each league who can never play each other unless you buy the US/EU version?

(I knew this from the start but it seems a bit daft if I want to play mates in US)

Indeed the price is retarded. Just goes to show what publishers will charge directly with no retailer between you and them. Steam already showed us this.

They're adding cross region play eventually. They've already allowed South East Asia people to connect to the US servers. An absolutely ridiculous reason though, "so people from SEA can play with their US friends". Right, because Europeans don't have American friends. But it's a step in the right direction and full cross region play should be here soon.

im so excited i took a picture that you have all seen already

I have the game krono. Feel free to add me, the account is the same as my username. Also, be on MSN tonight, although I am on a PC in Switzerland with integrated graphics, a rubbish mouse and no voice coms.

Edit: MSN will be on my phone so don't expect any essays/rapid responses as posting this is hard enough.

I have not played the original (not sure why lol) and not really followed the development of this second coming.

I love however the C&C series (bar the last one, say no more) and Diablo series so do you think on the strength of this i should get into SC II?

Your advise is appreciated :)
