No one has to, the Russians can just buy the full game like everyone else if they want to. No one has to pay a subscription fee.
 
Finally got hold of a guest pass and did the whopping 7.08gb download only to be met with a message that my GTX 260 might not be compatible!?!? :confused:

Booted into the game and bar for a few random black screens on the loading screen it seems to be working fine - can anyone tell me if there are any issues with my card and this game??

Cant wait to have a go, only had time to boot to the menu and set my account up before work this morning!

I think i'm starting to get used to the camera view height, coming from CoH it seemed like i was constantly zoomed in!

A few good custom games floating about already also, going to jump into 2v2 league tonight :)
 
I got a message that my 4890's drivers were outdated and needed to be updated.

Also, Kaspersky 2010 prevented the game from loading at all until I configured it to allow access (just got a generic "an error has occurred and Starcraft is unable to start" message)
 
Must admit I seem to get an FPS drop quiet often in game.

This isn't an epeen boost here as my hardware is getting dated but I have everything on Ultra with an [email protected], 2x4890 (xfire) 6 gig ram and and SSD. Just seems strange.

I won 1 out of my 5 placement matches, and only because I rushed the guy straight away. I need some serious practice.

Yes. It is perfect for that. I've seen some people be put off because it doesn't have 'modern RTS elements' like cover systems but even so what it does is great and it is very similar to SC1 in it's gameplay.

Or, more accurately (As Terran):

1 - Click Command Centre, press S.
2 - Select all peons and send to 2nd mineral patch
3 - Deselect 3 of them (shift+click wireframes) and send to last but one mineral patch
4 - Set CC's rally point to an unused mineral patch
5 - Once SCV is built, build another and set rally point to the final empty mineral patch
6 - Follow whatever build order you have planned.

You can only play as Terran.
