AMD® Phenom™ II X6 and Intel® Core™ i7 Debate

there's been SO much arguing and SO much information in this thread that i think just about everybody has lost track of it all.

some how, the guys so strongly pushing intel have ducked under a wave of dross in this thread and pretty much got off scott-free. This thread has gone from Big-wayne asking an important question (imo) with certain people giving him some of the most monumental crap ive ever heard (just look at what some of you lot have been saying about AMD up until the point of the cinebench tests cough) to suddenly Wayne being the awkward and annoying OP and miraculously everybody *knowing* the answer and acting as if they've always known....yeah right.

lets not forget, AMD are mediocre, right?

if you lot think big wayne hasnt been attacked in this thread then i strongly suggest you read through it again.

I agree to a point James and whoever said the x6 was mediocre lol just lol and it's clearly a daft thing to say but the blame isn't all oneway here there is more then enough to go round and i don't think the thread has done either the forum or some of it's members any good. You can have too much information to the point you begin to complicate something beyond the point that is needed and i think thats what is happening here.

Both cpu's are excellent peformers for the money that people are prepared to pay for them and anyone would be happy with either one in a system but there is not and never will be a complete yes or no answer on this and trying to find one after a certain point is just wasting time and arguing\debating for the sake of it not for any practical value.

one of the things that bugged me were people calling Wayne out for trying to find an answer....the is the cpu section of a hardware forum...for NERDS. christ if we cant find the answers here, where can we?

I tell you one thing, without Wayne asking so many questions we wouldnt have known what we know now. Through our own benchmarks we have proved that pound for pound AMD is right up there (as we know online tests arent to be trusted), far more so than a lot of people would have admitted prior to this thread and the discussions of the last week or so in general.

So despite the diluted thread, most of us would have come out knowing we'd be perfectly happy with either platforms. still, i knew that when i switched to AMD a few months ago :)

i just wanna say one last thing.

if the person wants to collect facts based on reviews sites results, why do it on the forum...

if the person wanted to collect facts based on real world results from people then by all means do it on the forum and get everybody involed

this is what some people are trying to point out.

Well, some people will never learn and they won't see the facts even if you show them black on white.

What annoys me the most is all that BS going on here especially the die hard intel fanboys claiming how much every single intel platform totally destroys even the best AMD CPUs when in fact if you gave them the 2 PCs, right infront of them, one with AMD setup and other with intel setup - without the benchmarks they won't be able to tell the difference at all and not only in general use but even in things that favor intel the most like encoding/rendering.

encoding /rendering doesnt favour intel though we proved that already but maybe intel users cant accept cold hard benchmarks/tests performed on these forums by its very own users as evidence

What annoys me is tight people saving themselves 100 quid and not leaving their options open to save money in the long run.

AMD no SLI support

Gutted if I already own a NV card

Why buy into a cul-de-sac when X58 opens the doors to both camps?

in reality how many people really use more than one graphics card? its probably a tiny percentage but use whatever crap you can to justify your purchase which seems to be all youve done in your 100+ posts on the subject.

you only bought intel because you got in cheap of the members market :P.#

btw when was the last time nvidia had the upper hand? 8800? and only just now they got some dignity back in the mid range gfx market ....

no one who couldnt run sli in the last few years handicapped themselfs and it doesnt look to change anytime soon anyway

Just some advice given in the Official Opteron 170 thread in April 2006;)

As a business man, and not making up clients for thread validation, I like choice.

Aren't intel forcing you to buy a new motherboard again if you want their new tech that is out soon? And by one less pin too...

Yeah you don't have SLi but am I right in saying you prefer just having the one card? ;)

Oh and I reckon bulldozer is going to be AM3 so yeah kind of nullifies that money in long run theory.

I hope that's not aimed at me ASWELL as other people :p I've been saying what i've said in this thread for along time! Pre Cinebench!
