**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

So..how many hours would an average-to-decent RTS player get out of the single player if they jumped straight in at hard mode (haven't played SC2 at all really, though I played SC1 fudge loads in multiplayer).

£35 is a bit over the amount I'd want to pay but possibly something I'd stretch to, given how great the first game was for multiplayer...but £45 is a joke, and makes me just want to pirate it to prove a point (especially as you *know* it was the Activision influence that lead to that).

Just get it from tesco for just under £30 with the discount code. Pirating only proves one point - developers shouldn't bother with the PC as a platform.

Maybe an easy question -- is there any way for Zerg for queue up 'maggots' to turn into some zerg unit? Or do you have to painfully keep doing just 3 at a time?

Very true...

Just under £30 is much easier to swallow. In fact, my first thought was "what a bargain". Amazing the difference £5 can make, lol.

I'll look for the discount code now.

Ah..good idea. Is that a game/blockbuster? Maybe I'll do that - have some random plebby 360 games sitting around the house.

Hi mate it was Gamestation (ours is within blockbuster) they had it £34.99 brand new and I traded in Red Dead Redemption for £20 - not bad seeing how it's £29.99 brand new from GS.

Rocking. I'll try popping down there tomorrow. Perhaps I can trade in all the rubbish games I have :)

what do mean theres no lan? you mean if i had two computers in the same room connected together, they wont be able to play eachother?

if this is the case that just sucks... why would they do that?? :(

What he means is that to play requires an internet connection and a Battle.Net login. That means to play with two people in the same room they each need an internet connection, a copy of the game and a Battle.Net account. So you can play each other, just not over LAN.

Why? P-p-p-p-p-piracy (the Battle.Net part) and to sell more games (I think with SC you could play LAN games with one copy).

thnx m8 i understand now...

Played my first ever starcraft game online just now.

lasted 6 minutes.

I have a lot of learning to do.

My recent problem with RTS games recently has been how slow I have gotten (and my inability to mount a good attack). Starcraft is all about speed and having a build all planned out. Think I will practice with the AI for a bit first.

Collectors Edition or not? >_<

Edit: Oops, double post.

Do it (but decide quickly)! They are sold out in a lot of places. In the reamining places the price is rising. I waited and missed out on getting it from some of my favourite sites. It is currently on its way from Zavvi. Not that speed matters since I am still in the US and it will arrive before me :(

Anyone got any links to some good tactics? I.e. which order to build things in with each race?

I'm pretty good at starting mass harvesting, expanding to a natural and getting some basic defense, but after that I just seem to slow down and plod along too much. I need some sort of order to do things in for the middle part of the game.
