What he means is that to play requires an internet connection and a Battle.Net login. That means to play with two people in the same room they each need an internet connection, a copy of the game and a Battle.Net account. So you can play each other, just not over LAN.
Why? P-p-p-p-p-piracy (the Battle.Net part) and to sell more games (I think with SC you could play LAN games with one copy).
I thought what I said was pretty clear, but thanks for clarifying.

Guess I should have gone into more detail but I thought it was pretty common knowledge now.
There is no LAN meaning you'd need both need an internet connection, not a huge issue these days but might prove an issue for certain LAN parties etc.
