Stupid privacy outrage

I nearly posted this when I saw it but I've been trying to figure out why they think taking public information and turning it into a list is in some way an issue.

The only problem I can see is spammers.

Details of 100m Facebook users collected and leaked

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10796584

Another example of bbc technology journalism, sensational and clueless.

Just for those who don't read someone collected the username and member id from searchable facebook users - just like someone picking up 'telescopi, 7' from this post.

Thank-you. I checked GD expecting a reactionary 'ZOMG AVE DEY GOT MY FB DETAILZ?' thread.

Bad article is bad :(.

lol @ the fool who is exclaiming 'facebook had ample warning that something of this magnitude could happen'...

mmm what magnitude? Information people chose to make readily available to the public being displayed publicly? ZOMGFACE

I dont know what's more stupid, the article or the people downloading the info that is already available by a quick search on FB!

It's only 2.79GiB. How much information could that even be.

What would be worse is the harvesting of all photos or conversations and re-hosting, preventing you from being able to delete photos you own the copyrights to.

I do agree with the calls of the default being all information being locked to everyone but your friends. There are so many open profiles, the above harvesting would yield a lot of information.
