Brown trousers moments with PSUs...

Does that count? Unless he's actually got heart problems, that just sounds like a precaution (probably because all the doctors had the same primary school anti-electricity drilling we did).

He mentioned it being due to the current passing through his body I think it is a precaution though.

no just small shocks....LOL I had spiky hair after that and charged;p

just got a small scare from a silly jeantec PSU...smelt someting was up with a PC, next minute a bang and a spark...the whole house tripped out. we turned it back on again and a nice blue fire works display in the case. :p

Oh, and forgot to say, the PSU in question was an Octigen 500W (lol). Never heard of them before. Weights about the same as empty coke can!

I've had a PSU go bang. Switched itself off a few times and I didn't 'get' the warning. BANG! All contained inside the PSU case but I got curious and there was a nice hole in the side of a capacitor. :D

Also while testing fans with a machine on I shorted the PSU out. That caused a nice flash/bang, but it cut off before doing any damage. I think that might have been the same PSU as well.

Also had a new-ish UPS at Uni (halls power was a bit sensitive and kept cutting out). Except this time I was the cause. Flick the switch - bright flash, bang, lights out!

 I bet you looked like the "eek" smily as well :p :D

Has anyone one here ever hurt themselves, either literal shock or jumping and hitting your head etc with dodgy PSUs?

I did blow up my dxx galaxy psu rather nicely, feser one is 'supposedly' non conductive, i guess my psu didn't like the couple drops that entered it.

Anyway took it out of the pc, plugged it into the mains BANG!! cue lots of smoke.

Twas an expensive day.....

Now have a nice 1100w tagan bz and a pretty thing it is, plus that psu going prompted me to go back to air, too much hassle cleaning the piping it etc.

I did play on an arcade machine once when it was raining, even though it was indoors water must have somehow ingressed, i could feel my arm going numb from the leccy as i grabbed the joystick.

Oh and once i pulled a mains plug out, only to grab the bottom two pins whilst it was still live, that was fun. :D

Engineer at work once made contact with 1200v, he was working on a pressure hose pump, he got blown back 20ft and hurt for days, bugger that.

or blowing up powersupplys and I have the same PSU as you :p and it lights up :p @_@

i had a brown trousers moment the other night but it was a stomach upset or something i had 6 poos in a day with each becoming less firm.

the 7th time i went into the bathroom pulled down my trousers let out a small fart and the rest is brown, watery and history!

A few years ago I reached on top of a sever cabinet and put my hand into the psu of a DLT drive with the cover removed

I saw a big spark emerge from my chest and jump to a key in a server ( nearest ground ) left a burn on my chest for over a year

I installed a brand new seasonic s12 psu into a system a few years ago, switched it on at the back and was met with a nice loud bang and a flash of light, fell backwards from the shock and hit my head on the side of my chair, also had a nice burn on my finger. Always wary when switching psu's on now.

Just had one, plugged in a customers PC and CRACK. Lucky to have my eyebrows  and I may need an emergancy pair of underwear lol

Luckily it didn't damage the machine beyond the dead PSU and only caused a trip here. Had one of those "am I ok" moments though.

Lesson I guess is don't plug a power cable in thats swtiched on at the mains. If I'd done that there would have been a bit of space between my face and the resulting fireball :) Never do it though...

Emergency underwear is not all its cracked up to be.:D

Yep, I'm very wary of this too now, I've had probably about 5 PSUs blow up like that, most in my face! That's what you get when repairing peoples cheap high st computers tbh. Don't plug in a live kettle lead if you can help it. I always plug in now and turn on at the wall after a few moments.

Also, if it's a foreign PC, make sure it's set to 230V on the PSU if it's not auto switching!
