How do you remember your passwords?

Whenever I use a new password I first write it down and keep it in front of me for the first few days while I get used to it. Once I find myself typing it without looking at the paper I through it away.

I think a problem that many people come across (including myself) is the 'remember me' option for a lot of websites. If you have a different password for each website and don't type it in each time then it's easy to forget what it is after months.

i remembered them all for years. then i though why bother ? and now just write them down.

seriously whos going to break into my house just to access my email and forum accounts ?

online banking well i remember it

Variations on a few passwords I have, anything critical like banking has its own set of credentials which I manage to remember off of the top of my head, much to the amazement of myself.

I use a little device called an amygdala. I've had it a long time and I think it's starting to wear out but it is multi-functional.
Unfortunately you can't buy new ones.

I have like 20 passwords I rotate every now and then. The problem I have is when they have a limit to how many you can type until you're locked out.

No idea what any of my passwords are, they're all randomly generated 20 character passwords. I use 1password so the only password I need to remember is the master password.

I have a 27 character password for stuff that's got to be really secure, I remember this in three chunks and I use one of the three chunks as passwords for other things.

Something like this:

I have a system, based on a theme. All my passwords are different and appear as a combination of nonsensicle upper/lower case numbers, symbols (where applicable) and numbers. All are changed regularly. If I forget the password I can derive it again.

Could you provide an example of this? And how to derive it? My passwords and still word based but ASCII characters added and replaced for some letters to make them complex.
