Hi Guys,

I know I know me again.

Am I mad?

Although my new 5870 2gb is nice it runs cool, its quiet and it runs pretty well, Im thinking I should have gone for the gtx 470 after all....

Better for DX11 games, better drivers and physx, which I wouldnt have minded trying this time around.

Might send it back!

Also was playing warhead yesterday, and I was noticing graphics issues, like white speckled dots in the trees etc....

Also feel a bit silly for splashing out £300...

Stick with what you've got. You've made your mind up, don't worry about whether it was the perfect choice or not.

OCUK isn't here to take back your rejects, if you return the card to them they have to sell it as B-class used which is a loss for them.

Do some google search, there are owners of both Nvidia and ATI cards who have issues with Crysis showing white dots in random textures. Afaik I had this issue ones and it was gone with a driver update. What Catalyst are you on atm?

Just keep the damn 5870 and play some games. And you find the Catalyst Control Center difficult to use?

Download Full Catalyst Software Suite for your version of Windows from here - http://game.amd.com/it-it/drivers_catalyst.aspx.

When you run it, first choose Uninstall and let it run in Express mode. Reboot. Run it again and choose install - Express mode. Reboot. See if it sorts any issues. Oh, I remember something. I had some issues when messing up with anti-aliasing settings in Control Panel. I'd suggest setting everything to default for a fresh start.

If the guys not happy, he's not happy, it will be always playing on his mind " what if " send the 5870 back under DSR and try out the 470 from another etailer, if you're still not happy DSR the 470 and get the 5870 again..p

He's not gonna be happy either way I think.

But he's not only playing with his own moneyz here :)

Of course I am playing with my own money!

I do work you know!

Regardless, yea I thought that if I sent this back and got the 470, and then found my self unhappy, what then.

I dont know! Sod the reviews, none of them can be beleived, they all differ.

Il keep it.

You wouldn't be playing with your money if you were to send the card, get another one and then send it back again to get a second replacement - hypothetically speaking.

As i have mentioned in several of your threads,i have owned both the 5870 and 470 and found the 470 to play games a lot smoother and had less driver issues.
This is why i went back to Nvdia and for no other reason

if your not happy send it back under DSR but i suggest you play some other games and not let Crysis be the only game you test your new card on.

The 5870 is a cracking card!

Its well known that Nvdia is more optimized for Crysis than ATI,well it always used to be anyway.

And to not install the catalyst control center is complete madness! you need it
