I'd like to know whether members think that the iPhone should be discussed in the Mobile Phones forum or within the Apple section we have here.

Please vote and post your reasons.

Thanks.

I think that we should divide up the mobile forum into Android, iPhone and maybe Symbian.
It would be nice to just create a new thread in the Android forum instead of the MASSIVE HTC Desire thread.

It's a difficult one, but I voted for the Apple forum. The reason is that there are more iPhone users likely to able to answer questions there. Normally what happens on this forum is a lot of people don't have iPhones and feel negative towards them which results in massive apple vs others debates.

The Apple forum should be Apple computer focused. The iPhone is a mobile phone, simple as.

I agree with what Deep said, there should be an iPhone/iOS subforum, an Android subforum and a Symbian or Symbian/Other subforum.

This would make it far easier to answer questions as you would be able to see them all as the thread titles etc instead of them being lost in threads as many are.

If you don't want to add subforums, just have everything in here, it would still be far better.

If it is a iPhone problem then wouldn't the people in this forum be able to solve it?

The only other problems I can think of would be iTunes problems, but then yuo would go to Apple Software.

Would that work?

I voted for 'mobile phones', as it is a mobile after all is said and done. :)

As above. Doesn't matter if it's an apple device. Don't see why mac books can't be discussed in laptops forum either (or can they I don't frequent there much)

I think it should be a combination of both. Mobiles for when you want to discuss a purchasing decision and Apple for when you've got the phone.

It's a Mobile Phone so should be in here, the only problem could be a nasty outbreak of OS fanboyism .

Keep it in the apple forum imo...and break the apple forums into sub forums like you had in the poll there.

When the Mobile forum was born most mobiles didn't have apps, and no one really talked about OSs :) It was all about the hardware; about cameras, bluetooth and battery life. Things change.

I think the forum will have to be split into sub forums at some point. We have Android, Blackberry, Symbian, OS, Meamo and soon-to-be-released Windows Phone 7. All with different app stores and the problems that people will be asking about them. It's like having a 'Computers' forum where people go for advice about Windows, Unix, Linux and OS all at once.

Bloody technology :)

I voted apple forum, purely because I hate anything Iphone related and would rather it wasn't in the mobile section. Although strictly speaking it is a mobile phone so it's place is suited to the mobiles section.

Just wish there was less mention of these over-hyped pieces of crap. :d

+1 to basing it on platform.

Apple
Android
BB
and a general section for less popular platforms (webOS, windows 7 and what ever nokias doing etc)

I like the idea of biasing it towards platform. However, failing that, I think the status quo is fine - iPhone is discussed in the mobile forum as part of the mobile phone world (i.e. 'iphone or desire?'), but specific iPhone material is left in the Apple forum.

I don't see the point in different sections of this forum, so no to having android specific imo.

Would prefer the Apple folk stick to their own little safe haven away from the boisterous android heathen. But that's just my opinion.

I would like it to be in here as it seems bit "Android dominant" but the poor Mac users need to learn to take criticism without winging.

Bunch of puffs.
