**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I'm considering buying this game. I've never played the original Starcraft. In face the only strategy game I've played is Warcraft 3. Well that and a few early Amiga games if I remember correctly.

Is this game noob friendly?

It's the campaign I'm interested in more than the Multiplayer.....for now.

yeah the campaign is great, it has four difficulties as well and you get 'rewards' and achievements based on what difficulty you play though. on casual its very noob friendly and its not very complicated to get the hang of, plus in the campaign you get old school starcraft units like the firebat, goliath, medics, etc. that aren't in MP at the moment. plus the story is a lot better than before and the cutscenes are cool...:)

Pff after qualifying for bronze league by loosing 4 times I manage to be matched against 3 beginners in a row.

Its kind of boring so far, either I am matched against highly superior opponent who destroys me in no time or I am matched against beginners.

Wonders of bronze league.

I for the life of me can not get passed the mission "All In". Anyone got any tips? I've tried nearly everything I can think of but they just overwhelm me at around 70%.

I seem to lack basic functions like "trying not to build a zerg out of Terran forces" and being too shy in building things asap. need more AI practice.

1 Thing that pee's me off is how you can't rush in the beginner matchs, everyone I come across is always terran and just **** on me.

Its the clump of debris that block the exit, its really annoying because by the time I have units the enemy just walk all over me so I can't scout, I always play as protoss because everyone and there mum plays as terran

Almost every terran I've played uses the viking "semi rush" tactic, to harass your workers and such, turrets are useless as you'd need to spend a lot of resources actually protecting your base as they'll just land and kill your peons.

So, what do you do? I understand you can obviously try counter with air units too, but when I try build some decent ground forces they just surprise attack.

It just sucks, I tried the same tactics back and I just steam roll people, you can completely kill someones economy early on by just going directly for peons, even if you lose most of them you've killed their income and you still have yours! :O

i got placed in Platinum too, despite winning them all, wonder how i can get into diamond.. might change back to Zerg, my Terran macro is appauling!

Yeah same, seems like they are forcing you to work your way up to diamond this time which is a good thing imo.

I've only played some comp-stomps with friends so far. But i've always found marines with shield and stim packs are great against lower tier flying units, obviously only if your Terran. Not too sure on other races yet, just starting to get the hang of Zerg atm.

I've not bothered with the ladder yet as i really suck, but i love practicing with a few friends and we're all starting to get an idea on build orders etc.

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I was about to go into Rape mode and send in 12 Reapers after about 8 minutes of playing and my connection dropped.

I like the game but cant help but feel it simply isn't in the same league as dawn of war and company of heroes in terms of race diversity strategy combat and gameplay, sorry but 3 races just isn't enough and the zerg ? meh who wants to play as them so I view this as a two race rts.

Will only be buying if I can get it for £20 or less.
