Help me get into something quick 3-5k

This is serious and I'm finding it difficult hence the thread

I'm leaning towards the hot hatch option so 182 and type R's

The mondro/jag is left over reminiscing when I had to do lads of motorway driving which is no more

Down to the smaller cars now then, can always climb back into a saloon in a few years if I need one

Thanks so far it's a big help to clear up my mind on that point

I can't really take a thread seriously where a Jaguar X-Type 3.0 Auto and an Honda Integra Type R are on the shortlist. How does that even happen?

They are both polar opposites. Everything about the Jag would be hated by a Type R Fan. Everything about a Type R would be unacceptable to somebody who would buy the Jag.

He could get a manual X type, in fact even though i hate manuals, the manuals are bomb proof, no auto box woes :)

Ha yes the thread came from the evo one, I was curious but not realy serious about that.

Reality is I do want to get into something quick but can't decide what at all

I'm leaning more and more to the civic which was on my original list just wanted ideas!

Not feeling the soarer

Ok so in reality civic type R. What to look out for?

I believe there was a refresh in 04 is there something to watch out for in the pre 04's?

182 might be better suited for a toy, where as the Type-R is probably more palatable every day.

I'd suggest going and test driving both.

Oh look he wanted an Evo 20 seconds ago.

He's either another dreamer or he's the sort of person who has no idea what he wants so ends up just buying anything and then flogging it 2 months down the line.

If you notice the evo was on the list and I thought this would make a better thread as that age evo was quite obviously not worth the bother.

I'm a little offended by being called a dreamer on this occasion as I'm deadly serious. However it does sound that way so I'll let you off this time :p

Good lord that soarer....thats... well its just horrible

I don't understand the mindset of these people - Let's take awful pictures outside a depressing row of terrace houses, write an absoultely terrible ad and then let's ask for an utterly ridiculous amount of money for it.

I'm sure that car would polish up to look quite nice given the time and the energy, but instead no effort is make. If you can't make a car look good in the pictures how the hell do you expect to sell it when people actually come to look at it and see all the dings, scratches and swirl marks you expect from 11 year old paintwork up close and personal!?

It's because they are not exactly the sharpest tools in the box. Or they'd be ordering new 911's to be delivered to the detached house in the country :p

Accord Type R?

Fair enough, they're getting on a bit now, but still meant to be a very capable car - and should be avaliable at the lower end of your budget which is a bonus!

cant believe you havent got a scooby on the list
Same here, cheaper to buy, own and insure than an evo - no ayc fluid changes needed just 1 service a year and ideally an oil change every 6 months. Later classics run on 16" rims and decent mid range tyres can be had for £60 a corner. Plenty of tuning options and predictable handling with stupid amounts of grip - ideal for a first 'fast' car!
