Ferrari 458 a bit ugly?

IMHO, Ferrari have not made an ugly or even remotely ugly car yet.

I saw an old 308 yesterday that still looks good but I am sightly biased after watching Magnum Pi as a kid.

Also, even after 23 years since it came out, I still drool at the F40. A fitting trubute to Enzo Ferarri as the last car he oversaw after wanting the first production 200mph car.

The 400 is pretty dire mate & the 458 although Gorgeous looking has those Gay fairy lights on it. :(

*Note to anybody about to buy me one, Don't let the above comments stop you*

Stunning car in real life. The wheels and ceramic breaks are enormous, and IMO the standard wheel size is too large cosmetically.

"Ugly" is not a word I would ever use in the same sentence as "458 Italia".

It's not a bad looking car, but neither is it one of the top 10 best looking cars out atm (in my view). Its the front lights that I'm really not a fan of.

Check my sig for something that I think looks stunning ;)

I think it's very awkward looking, the bonnet line and lights look wrong to me. Reminds me of something Lotus may produce.

I don't think it's pretty and the rear end just doesn't fit with the front. It's certainly a brave design choice for Ferrari and a big step up from the last 20 years of cars they have produced.

Actually, I don't think there's been a pretty Ferrari since the mid 70's - there's been some nicely aggressive ones, but nothing that makes me think that I could look at that all day like the E-Type, 300SL Gullwing or Muira do.

They've also produced some real shockers over the years. 330 GT, 575, 400, Mondial 8, 612 (is it's design inspiration for the front end really the Mk2 Ford Scorpio?)

Oh how could I forget... ok it was a concept car but...
Ferrari 308 Rainbow... :eek: MY EYES!

I saw a couple in the flesh at the weekend;

  • Colour dependant
  • Angle dependant, it has some amazing flowing lines, but the styling loses its purity front and back

Not sure about it works with this shade of red;

Although, it does look good in fashion white (this is the car used on TG last night)

It's hard to put your finger on it. On the one hand when I first look at it I immediatly want to go "Eugghhh!" but then you take a second look and that seems to go away and it starts to look better. It's really weird. I agree that the standard wheels are the biggest let down.

Put it next to a 360 though and it looks beautiful even at first glance.

I wouldn't call it ugly, but I don't agree with Clarkson when he says it's pretty when looking at the front. It's a fantastic looking car, but I wouldn't call it pretty.

I'm not a fan of the looks. I dont like the long lights and the little gap next to it. The standard wheels look awkward and the 3 exhausts on the back remind me of a kitted up Saxo.

I'm sure it is a awesome car and most people love its looks, but DB9 everyday for me. That is if I was ever in the position to buy a car worth £100,000+. :D

I think it is gorgeous, its up there with the F40 as one of the best looking cars Ferrari have ever made. Sure, it doesn't look particularly 'Ferrari', especially at the front, but I love it. It looks aggressive, almost Japanese. That's fine by me :D

Lovely looking car as a whole, bit of a weird front light arrangement, and I can't help thinking twin taillights would have looked better. Nitpicking though...
