It eventually let me in, but I stopped playing after not getting the achievments. Oh well, there is a pile of washing up that needs doing

Down for me too. I just started the single player logged in as guest playingit in hard. First 2 missions have been great, but I can see it getting very hard, very fast. A good way for me to get into playing terran though as I have never really played as them. Always been a protoss player really with about 2 weeks playing as Zerg

Playing it on normal first playthrough. Hard next. Can you get the "normal" achievments when playing on hard? I have missed a few

When you add someone by character code they only appear on your list. You don't appear on theirs. It's like AOL instant messenger if you've used that. Real ID is like MSN, where the other person has to accept your invite and then both of you are on each others list.

On a completely unrelated note, did anyone else find this apparent easter egg?
On the 'secret' mission ("piercing the shroud"), in the room before the brutalisk chamber, you can go outside and walk around a little. When you walk as far northeast as you can go (not very far) you see a marine trapped on a rock, and he appears to be... rocking out? Or dancing or going crazy or something... You can't control him and nothing else happens, but I found it pretty amusing!

I think it's the same platform from where your reinforcements are dropped in. If that helps any.
Ive just signed in. I take it that when you play as guest (like I did when bnet was not working) I cannot login and load the games? Does this mean that none of the achievement in single player will work in multi, unless i play both when logged in as me?

No, but I can't get any achievements right now, or access the ones I have (had?).
Battle.net seems a bit flaky.
edit: Now I can't log in at all... Pretty annoying!

I think they have taken it down for now. Not playing until it is back up, last time I got no achievments when this happened.
It's a sad state of affairs when you need to download a pirate version of a game you've already paid for in order to have it work properly!
