Favourite Jailbroken Applications

I couldn't even find it. I found a iBlueNova and i put it on my ipod touch and turned on my bluetooth, opened the app and then enabled it, which disabled my bluetooth. was buggy etc.

I put it on my iPad which obviously isn't iOS4 and it pretty much did same thing.. um

IBlueNova doesnt use bluetooth I think and uses BTStack?

So you dont need bluetooth on in settings.

How do you individually change icon's for app's? And anywhere I can get the full iphone resolution messages icon?
You need to SSH into the Application's folder, and replace icon.png with a newer one. As you mentioned...are there any high res icons at present?

I'll be checking out Macthemes.net later tonight as that is where all the core hard work is done by theme artists/coders etc.

To access my iPhones file system on my Mac I use a free app called iPhone Explorer as it saves faffing about with SSH.

Well thanks for that Kainz. I've done some messing around and I've been able to get somewhere and i'm quite pleased :)

I like bitesms as it uses the messages app already but it creates a new icon too where you have to go into etc etc. So basically I extracted the high resolution messages icon from my iphone and replaced the bitesms icon with this. I also renamed both icons to each other so now bitesms looks like my genuine iphone messaging app. And finally I hidden my original iphone messages app.

Now I have quick messaging from anywhere and it appears to go and be from my original iphone app :D I may try and edit some of the icons within the bitesms app to make them look higher res and fit iOS4.

Had a fiddle with categories while getting confused why there were a few in cydia :S But i've gone from like 8 pages to this so :)

Surprised there's not an app to just show full signal (even though it'll really be 1-3 which is fine) - it just doesn't look right! :p

Thats not always true as the icon can be named anything that the developer wants.

Also, if the info.plist file is still readable and not compiled you can add in a high rez icon for iPhone 4 by naming it [email protected] adding it into the same location as icon.png, and adding that new file name into the info.plist data.

You shouldn't even have to add it the info.plist. I've never had to do that with any of the apps I make. OS4 on iPhone 4 looks for the @2x.png first, if it can't be found uses the original.

im getting rid of it now.

just restoring my phone.

cant personally see any benefit from having it jailbreaked.

some might but i don't personally and im sure it is good for some people.

I know where you're coming from here, I have no real intention of jailbreaking my iPhone 4, but Ive had my iPad jailbroken for a while, as I missed the multitasking once I got my iPhone 4.

I use IRC quite a bit and quitting it just to check a website is a pain (yes my irc client does have a built in browser, but its not the same as Safari in that I dont have access to my bookmarks etc) so jailbreaking my iPad was a real nice move for me.

Im not that interested in changing icons and appearance, as I dont sit there looking at the screen outside of the apps Im using.

So yes, you're correct, each to their own :>

It did it for every other image i had but would only do it with the icons if i added it into the info.plist file for me. It did seem strange at the time and I've only done it to 1 app, so i might just have forgotten to clean the dependencies or something (i was in a rush at the time).

Here's an odd one that's irrititating me more than it should.

I just uninstalled Winterboard as I wasn't really using it. I wasn't really paying attention but saw something about BiteSMS and a couple of others flash up as it uninstalled.

BiteSMS is working fine, but I just wondered what that was all about? It's obviously not uninstalled it as the messages made me expect.

Out of curiosity I reinstalled Winterboard and uninstalled again, this time there was no mention of any other apps. I'm even starting to wonder if I've imagined it!

Any ideas?

Well I took the plunge and jail broke my 4.0.1 3GS today..... Main reason was for mywi. I bought a wifi iPad and now I have my own mobile hotspot, works perfect.

Also installed five icon dock, lock info, remove recents from task list (how it should have been), winter board with wooden shelf theme, clock hide for lock

Apart from those I don't think ill use anything else but very happy

I'm thinking about un-jailbreaking mine and going back to standard. Only got Five icon dock, SBSettings and a few SBSettings themes installed, Cydia etc but the phone just doesnt feel as "snappy" as it did before. Might just be my imagination, not sure.

Winterboard appears to slow down pretty much any iPhone I've tried with a JB so it could be that.

Apart from SBSettings and the ability to quickly and easily change custom SMS tones, can't really see much point ( for me ) in sticking with a JB. I'm not really one for swapping around with loads of themes etc anyway. As others have said, each to his own though. Might JB it again at some point if I feel the need.

I get this feeling too. My iPhone 4 just feels a little bit more sticky. I unjail broke it and only installed the features I like and didn't install winterboard - still doesn't feel as good but for the features i've got i'll live with it.

Loving the jb phone I have now :)

How do I activate 5 dock icons? Installed but can't find where to turn in on?

Thanks

Have you tried simply dragging an extra icon down onto the dock? :p

I've un-jailbroken my iPad and will probably do my iPhone 4 later. Don't think it's for me, quite happy with the devices as they are and nothing I've installed so far has made them better.
