myself barely watching bbc at the best of times i feel i shouldnt have to pay a full years subscription if im only going to watch it 1% of the time.

It's a license, not a subscription.

most of the broadcasts on bbc are repeats

ORLY?

and the programming has generally been viewed to be going downhill..

Weasel words.

out of all the licences i think the tv licence is one of the most ridiculous, its so easy getting out of having to pay for it i dont know why other people dont do it.

Honesty?

daelo said:
i also bet that there are thousands of people who buy tv licences but then end up not watching and bbc channels. if i said im buying this tv but will never watch any bbc channels why the hell should i have to pay for something that im not using or consuming, utter nonsence.

Not watching the BBC is irrelevant. The BBC put in massive funding into DTV for example.

Any such move would require the mandate be torn up. BBC is the largest and most respected broadcaster in the world. you really want to lose that,

give me £140 x the numbre of house holds in the country and I can also do some amazing things...

there may have been a need for the tvl one time, however not it makes me sick to have to pay them anything... it's legalised extortion...

Many TV channels are now available to watch over the internet. If you’re watching programmes on a computer or laptop as they're being shown on TV, then you need a TV Licence. However, you don’t need to be covered by a licence if you’re only using ‘on-demand’ services to watch programmes after they have been shown on TV. So, you need a licence to watch any channel live online, but you wouldn’t need one to use BBC iPlayer to catch up on an episode of a programme you missed, for example.

How would they find out if I am watching TV from TVCachup ?

bbc is a service for the Uk and as such is publican funded. what is wrong with that?

lots of people need / use hospitals, fire and police services, schools and roads however when has anyone needed the bbc?

I dont mind paying tax for the basics that everyone / the country needs however the BBC is not somethign we need... and its not like we are just taking about a cheaky million either its billions.

they should be told to sell advertising and subscription like everyone else, if they are any good they will turn a nice profit.

But unlike other tax you are not forced to pay it, you can quite legitimately not pay.

actually I think the mandate is need. Impartial news, regional program, programs for the deaf and many other aspects contained within the mandate.

We need it, because if the Nuke Subs can't listen to Radio 4 then all hell breaks out!

you may have paid for separately.

You don;t have to pay for them.

A lot of people are now not watching live and using on demand services for free with some pay per view content.

it's not like with sky you can pick and choose which channels you want to pay for. You have to pay for a minimum package. Think of the bbc in the same way. it's part of the minimum package.
