I love sports films for loads of reasons, I love sport itself which is probably a big part in it. I'd like to think I've watched most of the great sports films ever made!

So lets hear about your favourites, pick one or pick 14! Lets see what people think are great. Only rules are, you can only pick 1 of the rocky films and to class as a "real" sports film it must be a film centered around the sport and not just happen to have sport in it. A good example is Jerry Mcguire which is a chick flick with sports in it.

My personal favourites I can watch over and over are :-

Tin cup
Friday Night Lights (also like the series)
The Replacements
Varsity Blues
Happy Gilmore
Slap shot
Remember the titans
Caddyshack
Rocky II
Cool Runnings

Any of you call yourselves men, honestly,

Firstly, Rudy, who could not love Rudy, and more seriously FIELD OF DREAMS, for the love of god who would not mention that.

Any Given Sunday is pretty damn good,
Hurricane is listed on a top sports films list, I guess the line is whats about the players and whats about the sport more.
Ali
Raging Bull
Rocky(most of the others were pap),
Jerry Maguire
When we were kings(the best ali film)
Cinderella Man, would be right up there if it didn't have squishy face in it, hate that woman maybe more than anything else on earth
Seabiscuit,
The Color of Money,
Kingpin

and for me, maybe the best sports film , The Big Blue, which is just an outstanding film, truly outstanding.

Saying Mean Machine or the longest Yard(assuming the newer one), or gridion gang, Coach Carter is just embarassing, they are complete jokes alongside Field of dreams, the big blue, half the others I listed as films.

EDIT:- forgot A league of their Own, actually a very good film,

all yoinked from the first result on google for greatest ever sports films. I can't believe Happy Gilmore(a guilty pleasure) is so high and The Big Blue, which is fantastic in terms of competition of the sport, cinematography, acting, cast, its just outstanding, is so damn low on that list.
