Tijuana

Curio where abouts in the States are you?

Pasonix, I doubt that there's anywhere in the UK anywhere near as dangerous as Tijuana. Do you think there's been anywhere near 1000 tourists killed in say France? Which see's more tourists than anywhere else in the world? The place is a hotbed for gang violence who couldn't give a hoot about your well being.. Until the Mexican goverments sorts it out, I'd stay away.. Plenty of better places to to visit in that vicinity.

Be careful about "popping over" the border. I did this once and ended up waiting for around 6 hours to get my passport stamped.

I don't think I've ever been so quickly put off an idea in such a short space of time before, thats yet another big downside i think.

Oh well!

Go for it , get away from the usual stuff, land borders are fine 99% of the time and you get to see some real life , instead of the normal tourist stuff. Each to there own I suppose :)

It's a NUTTY place. If you need prescription painkillers, uppers, downers or all arounders or have *ahem* dysfunctions in the trouser department you will be in nirvana.

If you are on a tour of America and want to go to nice places, I would just stick with San Diego Zoo..

I once went to LA and my hosts took me on a trip to Tijuana to smuggle Steroids into the US. I was made to stand as a look out outside their equivalent of Boots while my US chums negotiated the deal.

The drugs were then smuggled back in the loudspeakers of the car we were in. We got impounded because the two numbnut Americans didn't have their green cards with them to get them across the border.

I thought I was going to end up in a Mexican jail.

Tijuana was not for me.

Just rent yourself a tank for the day and have a nice leisurely drive through.

Make sure it has big enough windows though so you can take in the lovely sights and sounds (read: gunfire) available there :p

So according to most of the posts here, what is you % rate of being killed when visisting Tijuana

For me personally anything over 25% is a no go :D
