Car reversed into

Funny how you say drive assist changed their tune when they found out that her insurers were of the same company as yours.

A like for like for my HR-V 1.6 vtec 4x4 to them meant either a ranger rover or a merc. I insisted on something a lot smaller due to the fact where i lived we got a lot of heavy goods trucks squeezing down the street.

Sounds like they just like to pile on the costs of the repair bills, no wonder insurance has risen so much lately.

Ha ha this is fun, I need my tow bar at the weekend so phoned direct line who have arranged a swap from the Mondeo to a double cab ford ranger, I'll have this now till the Mazda is back.

I wonder what else I can convince them I need

:D :D Your misses won't be driving that either then!

Have they said how long it's going to be?

LOL DJMK4

My missus won't be driving anything for a while, she goes in to be induced tomorrow she's 11 days overdue, the Mazda will be ready in two weeks, that is only if the repair is up too standard, that broadly depends on how good the Ranger is :p

And you had a track day planned, which the Ranger won't be suitable for..

I tried this when I complained that a 1.6 Focus wasn't a suitable replacement - I got told that none of the hire companies permit their cars to be used on a trackday, told me to claim for the price of the trackday as uninsured losses and gave me a 1.8 Zetec-S instead.

Ah ha the Ford Ranger turned up today, they just posted the keys through my letter box, it's brand new with 600 miles on the clock, it's a Thunder model in a light blue and is terrible, both in quality and drive.

How Ford can make a modern competant car like the Mondeo alongside this is gobsmaking, I can only compare it to something made last century as the clocks & dash look like they were just thrown together, oooo I need a A/C switch, ahh drill and round switch in here great, how they think they can compete with Mitsubushi and Toyota models I don't know.

I assume this is made either by or for the Yanks, the difference in quality looks the same as when I compared my Accord Coupe to the normal Accord, the Coupe was made and sold mainly in the US

Driving is OK until it's wet then the rear end just wants to overtake the front unless your well out of the diesel power band. In fifth the lever sits so far over your leg rests against it and the interior is very cramped.

However,

I have taken it to a few back roads and unmade roads and it seems to keep it self composed but I can't see who would spend circa 18k on a new one

? sounds like he's just saying it's pointless comparing it to 'cars' because it isn't one - it's a commercial vehicle

sorry are we not allowed to talk about anything other than mondeos and 5 series bm's now

Eh!?

My point was that the Ranger is not a car, it is a commercial vehicle. Therefore expecting Mondeo levels of build quality is just pointless - that isnt what its for. It's a utility truck for builders etc.

But no, instead, lets have an arguement about 5 Series BMW's shall we? It's obviously what you want, because you cant be bothered to read things properly. I'll kick it off shall I? Why do you drive a Mazda6? You do realise it's a heap of plastic rubbish compared to a nice BMW, right? Why dont you get rid of it? It's a crap car.

Is that better? Is that more what you expected me to post?

Or shall we just go back to actually talking about your Ford Ranger, something I was doing in the first place?

I used helphire when my Asta got bashed last year, they were great!

They got me a newer better model astra than mine (mine= 54 1.7cdti).

I was gutted when I got the call to drop it off and pick mine up.

This happened to me i was given a Zafira SRi in place of my 1.6 active i was gutted when i had to pick mine up.
