Seems a bit low?

would it be worth it for me to invest in a q9550 or above? I'm reluctant to upgrade to an i5/7 atm due to new socket coming out soon.

I think the question i'm really asking is am i bottlenecked by my CPU in games? and if so should i upgrade.

It would be a good upgrade for games that are optimized for quads i changed

from the same dual core to a quad 8400 and doubled my fps in certain games

To the one asked bout upgrading to q9550 I would say go for it.
I myself have q9550 and some 4gigs of ddr2 800mhz mem currently @ stock cuz summer..
Getting some new memory in couple weeks. OCZ Reaper 2x2gb CL4 4gb edition :P
Last winter i only got to 3,9ghz, and that maybe because that the chip wont go faster or bcuz of my inexperience. now been oc'ing some retro stuff while I have had time and I could say I now can break the 4ghz mark :D
Planning on oc'ing those reapers to 950mhz and then they would be on par with q9550 @ 4ghz

And to topic. I have yet to receive my replacement glh460 from jimm's.. expecting it during next week.. After I get teh other 460 and them memories I finally get to apply some mad lagittaja patents on oc'ing! :D:D

so is that palit one okay to get now? hows the warranty on it? still very loud, vrms over heating? how long is it? is it smaller than 10"?

The palit still has a very irritating whine to its fan noise. Some people may not really notice it, but it annoyed me.

It is however, the shortest of all the GTX 460 cards - it's tiny.

Don't bother opening up my case to see, but i would say it's bout 7½" long, that a wild guess though. But it is very tiny! I would say it would fit any case.

About the fan noise. Since Palit=Gainward, I can say that my gainward card is very silent when idle.
I cannot recognize it's noise from the rest of my comp. But when it is under stress, damn that bitch whines.
But it doesn't bother me, I play games with sounds coming through my stereo or I use my headset, and I cannot hear the card then.
But if you get bothered with the noise while running furmark/occt/etc benchmark's with no sound when the card is fully stressed, then

Just ordered the Palit GeForce GTX 460 Sonic 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card.

Price seemed good. Not pre-OC'd but not bothered. Could always try it myself. Bit-tech reviews seemed to suggest buying a 1GB over 768MB if you could, otherwise would've bought the 768MB version.
