If you ever found yourself in these bleak circumstances what would you do to survive?

Your 25 alone and in the Uk you cant find any employment whatsoever in your area your had nothing but rejection letters to look at for company.Your qualifications are basically non existent you don't even have any gcse.

You don't have any savings or anything of value to sell and you have a very poor credit rating so no borrowing any money.

You don't have any family or any close people you could turn to for help.

Your been in debt of 25k accumulated over 6 years when your credit rating was good, you have no way of paying the payments on this.

Your claiming benefits but this is not enough to pay rent even without paying the bills + everything else you need to live you have just enough money to pay next weeks rent and thats it.You cant find any other places to rent that are cheaper or available so you speak to citizen advice and they are unable to advise further on your situation.

To your name you've only got a small backpack with 1 set of cloths and thats it.

So what would you do next?

Declare bankrupcy, Pull it together, Join the army once my feet firmly planted on the ground.

EDIT: Oh yeh, Stop using stuff I cant afford. i.e internet!

I'd probably contact debtline and see what they recommend regarding the debt and repayments. However if you're on benefits, unable to find a job and can't make payments, given the amount you owe, some of your creditors may have you declared bankrupt (if you owe more than £700 to any individual creditor they can do this)

Phone them and see! :)

Also you should be able to cover most of your rent from benefits too, there's not just JSA but housing benefit etc too.

When I get sad, I stop being sad and be Awesome instead.

Do this. Bankruptcy is probably your best option, and it'll help you in the future by closing certain doors to things you don't need, cannot afford and shouldn't be buying when you've no prospects of renumeration.

Bend over, take a life lesson in the jacksie and man up.

If I was female i'd sell my body, and enjoy doing it.

Being male tho...hmm, Army? Tho there is a surplus of people joining, so you'd have to be good, and VERY hardworking. And not mind getting shot at.

I'd get a job doing anything, even macdonalds. As for the debt, just keep making the payments for now. Don't focus on having £0 debt because it's too far away and you will get disheartened. Obviously that's the ultimate goal of any debt but just get into a cycle of ending each month better off than you started it. As the balance reduces, it will become less worrying. If you know what it's like to have £25k debt then you will probably not feel anywhere near as bad in having £18k debt etc. Debt is a normal part of modern life and many people around you who appear to be successful will owe similar amounts.

You know you could have condensed all that into:

'You are a tramp, what would you do?'

That made me lol :p

In answer to the OP, I dont know, Im convinced there must be a job somewhere doing something. Id start with that.

Thining about it.... If I had no GCSE's I would go get some. Seen as you can get paid to go to college (If you meet certain rewuirements obv).

Debt is a normal part of modern life

Part of the problem, not a solution. It's understandable for a mortgage or perhaps car credit, but more on credit cards than you can realistically afford to pay off in full each month is retarded. Stop spending money you don't have.

If I were you and didnt have ties i'd hit the road move to somewhere where there are Jobs.

After travelling round Europe when I returned to these shores I only had 15 quid to my name 1 year later I had a house a job and a decentish bank account a Car etc.

It was a hard slogg I remember living on a diet of Toast and Tea for six months all the while saving every penny I could. I remember coming in from a 12 hour shift and eating toast. lol

Try to aquaint yourself with the Protestant Work Ethic. :p

read books about people that have really had a hard life like solzhenitsyn and premo levi.

Also declare yourself Bankrupt so as to lessen the burden of that huge debt your on benefits so youve got nothing to loose.

Jeez your only 25 your lifes only just begun.
Think positive.

If you don't even have gcse's then I'd probably start by going to college full time for a year and getting some. At least if you have those you can prove that you're not a complete idiot to anyone who's interviewing you. If you're a full time student you'll also get most things paid for as well as being able to put "student" on your CV, rather than "unemployed".
