Jesus Christ! Don't forget to put your seat belts on!

Ummm... And you'd know this by getting them to fill in a quick survey when initially pulling them over?

A police officer's job is to examine people and they should be able to distinguish between a normal person and a dangerous criminal/violent psychopath.

Do dangerous criminals where a badge with 'I am a criminal' on or something?

Do normal people have a string of previous convictions?

Yeah I know, he don't help himself does he the idiot. But I still think they went a bit OTT, they must have been ****** off from the incident before when he fled the scene.

Or maybe they've seen a number of cases where someone pulls over, and then when the officers get the car, they floor the car again, possibly risking the officers lives... Hence resorting to the training to try and prevent that!?

Does he have a string of previous convictions? I understood that the gentleman in question has all charges dropped on the previous occasion due the arresting Officer being a thieving disgrace to the uniform.

omg! that's a bit ott of the police. I don't even like my local police, bunch of useless pigs.

2 years ago, my wife was stopped the police 5 am in the morning and questioned her why was she out so early in the morning. One of the police woman tried to accuse my wife of being a drug dealer.

I bet thats totally how it went down and there isnt more to it, or anything.

They can tell when they do the ID checks when they stop you and more importantly police officers are taught how to differentiate between law abiding citizens and dangerous criminals, granted it can be hard in some circumstances but no I dont think this guy was a big threat...

Of course you dont, this is because you are sat at your computer with the benefit of hindsight. You are not stood beside a road watching the guy you pulled just to give a quick seatbelt ticket to driving off into the distance...

Yeah, it could be that too but that don't mean you regularly bust peoples windows just to be sure there no danger, that's way OTT and inproportionate.

No but I can imagine being in that situation, it's not that dangerous mate.

Which is why it wasn't done when they first stopped him. Only after he was stopped a second time after being "chased" for quarter of an hour.

To be fair, I was stopped early in the morning and asked why I was driving so early.

I wasn't accused of being a drug-dealer however, although they got a little excited when they asked me if the Car was mine and I said No....It was my wifes. :)

I was also driving through some of the more, shall we say less select neighbourhood in London several years ago, I was in a nice sports saloon and wearing a BB cap. I was stopped a total of six times in three hours, 4 toward my destination and twice back.

Again, I was never accused of anything and they simply checked my details and sent me on my way, the last Policeman, nice chap, said it might be preferable to remove my BB cap while driving when I questioned why I had been pulled so many times and sure enough I wasn't pulled anymore.

It would seem that communication between units isn't big in the capital though.

Did they have any particular reason that now he would present a sudden threat to them? He did stop his car after all.

They didn't even talk to him, they just went and dealt with it.

Because he drove off the first time? Alledgely almost hitting an officer?

You can't imagine it at all as you are not a trained police officer. None of us can imagine it.

Are we not giving to much creedance to cops here?

Sure they do a good job on the whole, but essentially you don't need any qualifications or real experience to join them. They are not hand picked elites or whatever, just ordinary people at best.

When he did stop, they could have blocked him off with two cars on either side and then they could have talked him out of the car.

Instead as soon as they got out they went to smash his windows and grab his keys.

I've watched 100s & 100s of Cop programs and this is what they do and I can't see anything wrong with it ESCPECIALLY when you've been chased for 17 minutes.

His car was stopped by a Stinger.
