If you won the lottery where would you live ?

I'd travel for some while, maybe the rest of my life. Maybe I'd keep a home in England and split my time between living there and travelling.

You can get loads more for your money in the US, not sure about other places but I'd imagine a lot of places would be cheaper than living here. There is a program on C4 where people from the UK go looking at houses in Florida and some of the houses you can get there for under £500k are massive.

But I guess you would need more than 5 mill to ensure you didnt need to find a job out there.

Would be so awesome having BBQ's every day etc. I havent had one this year due to the crappy weather.

You can get a fairly sizable house in some parts of the USA, including Florida, for well under £100K, even under £50K.

3 bedroom, two bathroom, £44K:

You can get a 4 bed detached house with a big garden and a swimming pool for ~£100K.

I've seen a 3 bedroom bungalow with a garden on sale for US$2000. I can't imagine how bad a neighbourhood would have to be for house prices to be that low.

This is what i could get for my money near me after a very quick search:

Its florida, houses are massive, cheaply put up and aren't built to weather storms, you can't get good insurance and thats why they are cheap.

You do get WAY bigger houses most places in the states than here, largely because a lot are built in wood rather than brick, its cheaper, quicker, less man power.

I'd probably want to live anywhere but England and probably cut any ties largely because they'd screw me for tax. I'd like to live in a better climate, crappy joints, bad weather makes them worse. Arizona, Cali, Spain, Aussie maybe, if tax rules weren't such a joke in the UK i'd keep a house just outside London, something huge with land rather than central London, and a club or something so I can come back here pretty often, but theres not a whole lot of reason to do so.

I'd actually love to buy out Brentford FC if I got a big win like around 10mil, if I won the Euromillions and like 30-50mil I'd buy Brentford in a heartbeat.

A small win though, 3-4mil or less and it won't stretch that far in the UK to be honest.

Would buy a house at Rincon Point on PCH, so about $5 million or so, an apartment in San Diego for another $1-2 million or so then a nice top-floor apartment on the Thames in Limehouse for around £1 million or so that I'd rent out to my mates there and come and stay whenever I was in London.

Somewhere hot and sunny, but with a nice crisp winter.

Maybe somewhere Caribbean or Med, with a nice bay with warm turquoise water, where I can sail my sailing yacht (nothing extravagant, 40-45ft is fine), around some little islands in the bay, some woods/forest to the back of the house, leading up to a nice hill / mountain area.

It would be an amalgamation of Antigua, Cuba, Cyprus, Goa and New Zealand. I haven't found that place yet, but may well just live out in the Caribbean for a while instead! :D

I'd like to buy one of the big houses overlooking Victoria Park (yes, in Hackney :o). Then completely gut it and do it up to a very high standard and exactly to my tastes/requirements.

Then I'd live in a reasonably nice area, with a new view, and still be near friends/family/my interests.

an estate in Scotland, it would need moorland as well as pasture and a river, so I had deer stlaking and salmon rights as well as upland grouse and lowland pheasant

and a glorious old victorian lodge that could be as it was on the oudside but ultra modern inside

I would like a property in New England as well, overlooking the ocean..anywhere else you can just go on holiday to.....no amount of money would compel me to live in London

Somewhere hot. I'm absolutely sick of his crappy weather we get here. This has to be the worst summer Ive ever known.

2007/8/9 have been washouts, but 2010 was one of the nicer ones for me. Lots of sun, not too hot.

As for me and the lottery? I would still work and go part time. I'd still live where I am now because I like my house. Stafford is small enough to walk most places, yet large enough to have most facilities. Then I would do my proper clubbing in Birmingham / festivals. I would holiday abroad to visit a few select places, but as long as I meet people, then that's most important to me.
