Does any one have any tips to help me control them a bit better?
This post is a bit vague..but im hopeing some one will know where im coming from lol ty for any help you can give!! :)

Spacebar is your friend, if one guy runs off just click on him and get him back to the main fight.

I found that one supporting/healing, 1 tank and the rest DPS was my fav choice. When the fights kicks off be the healer and help your men out.

When you get low on manna use the healing kits on your men, buy these when ever you can from vendors don’t worry about cost as they are very useful early on.

Oh and hot key auto save.

setup the tactics a lot better - you should only ever really need to pause and switch characters to position on boss fights

The defaults are actually pretty good, just have 1 tank and set it to defender, get the respec mod(not really cheating, should be in there as default in an RPG =/) and make a proper spirit healer, then have 2 DPS. Probably the easiest way to go through the game, but still fun :D

Don't be afraid to try something new if you need to reload. Buff yourself to the max. Even silly sounding buffs can change the winds of a fight.

Spacebar loves you. Love it back. If you find you're taking too long to kill things, try putting everyone onto 1 enemy, killing it, then moving them all to the next.

Enemies that stand back from the group are usually a priority, as it takes longe rto engage them. Mages, for example, are a complete pain. Shield yourself with your spirit healer and hoon straight over to them. Use disabling attacks like knockdown or stonefist to prevent their ludicrous fireball damage. If they're still casting fireballs, ensure the guy engaging the mage is far from the rest of your group so that only he gets burned.

Use terrain to your advantage. Corners, doors, etc can all be used to break line of sight. This way, enemies come to you and you needn't cross a room full of traps to get to them.

For a first play through, make sure you have one guy who is "tank". Generally, this is Alistair, unless you're a sword n board (sword and shield) warrior yourself. Throw the buffs onto him and make him the first guy to engage a pack. That way you can concentrate your main character on doing more specialist activities like (if you're a rogue), backstabbing the crap out of people.

Did i mention spacebar?

use it.

people actually use spacebar outside of bosses?

Completed the game+expansion+many dungeon mods on nightmare, never needed outside of them :p

Just started replaying it on Nightmare setting and it still too easy!! :D Just owning everything.

Trick is to have heavy CC and burst DPS. I changed the NPCs tactic to "Enemy: Target of player use/cast damage ability" So, when I select everything all the players focus fire and burn it down quick.

Also, get Morrigan and Wayne to auto CC mobs, like "Enemy: Clustered with at least 2 allies use ability Sleep". And give your NPCs talents if they get into trouble, ie "Self: Attacked by Melee cast Mind Blast" and "Self: Attacked at range cast Horror"

Some spells can one hit kill mobs, like Crushing Prison. Got Morrigan to auto cast it on boss level mobs. Can CC and kill them in one shot :p

I don't have a real tank or healer. Playing a two handed warrior but I do have the aggro talents on. Healing generally pots but Morrigan and Wayne got heals just in case.

If you’ve fell you missed up your spec downloas the repec mod.

So, CC anything at range and kill the melee mobs quick, before moving on.

Just play a mage and heal your group. Once you get used to how the combat works you'll be able to branch out ;)

As mentioned, get Wynee (the old biddy) after completing the Mages tower quest. Prior to that I was quaffing health potion like there was no tomorrow.

She can be a bit slow to heal, so used to control her directly in heated battles.

There is an easier way my friend. What I did was..... change the difficulty setting to easy :o I'm hoping to learn a bit faster that way while still having fun.

Don't forget there are also tactics that can be used to exhaust a pack of enemies before you engage them. I believe they're called "cheese" but they get the job done. Play around with spell combinations. Crushing Prison + Stone Fist can equal a one shot kill due to Shatter, for example.

Tactics are key - set them up right and you're laughing. They'll auto-heal, auto-crowd control, auto-fight and do just about everything you could possibly want them to without you laying a finger on them - yes, they go off-kilter a little bit now and then, but that's why you have a spacebar :)
