Exactly what I thought, when I read this.
Not like you'd keep your finger on the trigger once you start spraying the guests is it

This!!! Although the story is both sad & ridiculous, I've been around guns since I was a baby. There have always been guns in my house, stored properly and all legal. It doesn't make me a psycho or my dad.
And Turkey want to join the EU.

Common practice and the same in Greece. I went to a traditional Greek wedding the hills and there were over 200 handguns, shotguns and automatic rifles fired in the air to celebrate the wedding. In fact most guests were armed.
I know of one occasion in Greece where the bride was killed by a bullet which ricoched off a drainpipe.

But would you take your guns to your wedding, and fire live amunition?
This story is tragic, but stupidity often begets tragedy.
Anyone who has actually fired a high caliber weapon knows that you can lose control more easy than you might think. An AK 47 with a full clip is not a light weapon. It is actually quite heavy. The guy was probably a weasly little guy, who had a few drinks and decided to shoot the thing in the air one-handed. The kick from the first shot forced his arm back down and in the blink of an eye lowered the heavy barrel, with his finger still on the trigger, and popped off a few rounds into the wedding party. It only takes few seconds for this to happen.
I watched a friend who was not to familiar with guns fire off a pump 12 gauge once and lose control of it. The gun flew out of his hands and landed back behind him about 5 meters away. Recoil is stronger than most people think, and if you are not prepared for it, then look out.

Because then he'd have to attach a BFA and it wouldn't look the same

I mean you can still fire blanks without it on?
