I know a bit about the Galaxy S but i'm a bit confused as to how it compares to the Wave and random HTCs that seem to be popping up. :p

Camera is quite important as my current phone - Nokia N95 - is quite well used. Flash isnt that important and i am aware the Galaxy S doesn't have this feature.

I'd like WiFi as well if possible.

Can someone give me a few basic pointers or point me in the right direction?

I can only name a single Android phone that doesn't have Wifi - the Acer beTouch E110.

While the Galaxy S may technically be the best specced phone around it doesn't necessarily make it the best... have a look at the HTC Desire or the Desire HD which looks set to replace it.

it does everything... (well ok nearly.. with the modding community)

as its now the "developer phone" for google, it has all the specs/shabang of all the others (not as high mp camera as the sammy)

modding wise people have pushed it so it'll do everything, 720p video recording, FM radio (soon!) wireless N, wifi proxy settings, etc.

and It looks smart as hell (better than the desire imo)

tbh its neigh on the same as the desire, i just much preffer the looks, the trackball and having something a bit special. Another note, the desire does nothing better than the nexus, but the nexus does stuff better than the desire.

Galaxy S is the best Android phone out there IMO. I had a go on a mate's last night and the screen and UI are very tidy indeed. Makes my Nexus One look decidedly dated, even though they're not that different.

At the moment, the best phones on the market are the iPhone 4, the Desire, the Nexus One and the Galaxy S - which means you've got some decent choice if you want Android!

I'm waiting for the Desire HD to launch in a few months, it should be good.

I found the Galaxy S a bit plasticky and toy like when I had a go on one. The screen was nice though.

Overall, I'd rate the HTC Desire as the phone to go for atm as the Sense UI is a nice improvement over the stock Android UI of the Nexus One.

The Nexus is plastic...

"OK...all kidding aside, the main enclosure housing is a machined aluminum unibody with an scratch-resistant (note, not scratch-proof) teflon coating. The rest of the body (dark gray) is plastic with a "soft touch" coating. "

Dont bother with people complaining or comparing the UI. All three can use all three.

I have owned Desire and Galaxy S my views.....

The Desire camera isn't great i think you will find you N95 to be much better, 720p on the Desire also isn't that good suffers badly with low fps and just generally poor.

Galaxy s the camera again isn't very good but the 720p video recording is really good solid 30fps and movement is nice.

For purely camera i would say the SE X10 would be the winner with its 8mp camera but i can't say for sure as I haven't used one, it is running a lower end version of Android 1.5 and i believe the flash doesn't work atm as 1.5 doesn't support flash on cameras.

I took a gamble and got a I4 thinking if i hate it i can sell it on for a good price as they going for daft prices on ebay atm, and the camera is amazing imo and the hd recording wins hands down as it has touch focus while recording something you really need on a video camera.

This is just my opinion and I am no Apple fanboy as i have owned 4 android phones before the I4.

I sold my desire which was a cracking phone because I wanted to be able to get all future releases of android as soon as they are released. With any android handsets apart from the nexus one you will find that updates are slow to come out or they wont bother at all eventually.

I do love the notifications glow under the trackball on the nexus one. I am a bit of a nerd but I really like the interface on the nexus one when you are using launcher pro rather than stock android launcher.

All of the top of the range ones are much of a sameness with android. Have a go and decide which you like bets.

Galaxy S.

As long as you aren't bothered about the Flash or the lack of the HTC Sense UI, you'd be foolish to get anything else.

for camera alone it will be the sony E X10

as per normal for sony, wall ways packing a punch with the camera.

as for the rest its how you make it..they all have thier good and bad points..for a start I wouldn't get a galexy or X10 cos they are too bloody big and would struggle to fit in the back on my cycling jersy and would go dead rather quick( use as a media player)

The X10 runs Android 1.6, with the update to 2.1 within 6 weeks which also bring 720P Video and other things. :D

No problems with battery life here, since its update I easily get 1 or 2 days from the battery :D
