Movies others go nuts over that you just don't 'get'

The Dark Knight.

It bored me from start to finish, it went on too long and I honestly could not work out what all the fuss regarding Heath Ledger's performance was about.

Also I can't believe its as high up in the IMDB ratings as it is. Perhaps its just me.!

That's kinda the entire point of the film. Well, there's a lot more to it than that, but that's a large part of it. The bigger point is that they don't really understand what does happen.

And it's brilliant.

It's very overrated, it's not a bad movie by any means but seriously overrated. And a tad long. i think 50% of it was due to the death of Heath Ledger and his overrated Joker. But the problems i have with the Joker is more Nolans fault as the acting was fine, but he was a kitten of a Joker comapred to what it should be.
 
I'm a bit surprised by some of the picks on here but can't argue as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'd go with some of Kubrick's work as being overrated, I didn't really like A Clockwork Orange or 2001: A Space Odyssey. On the other hand, I really enjoyed Full Metal Jacket (but still prefer Platoon). I'd completely agree with the Twilight films being in this overrated category, but then they are chick flicks, so it's understandable if they seem awful to guys.
 
Currently I'd say Inception, I understood it etc. but I just felt it was an OK movie with as many flaws as positives, stunned at the reception it has received

That's the beauty of it. You CAN argue, just as long as you justify why you're arguing.

I very much like art, I like films that are different from the norm, but that film just struck me as pretentious to the point of tedium.
 
Lost in Translation is fantastic, one of my favourite films of all time. Mostly because I watch films for the characters and Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson's cbaracters were extremely good. The character development in Lost in Translation is amazing, I can't think of many films which are better in that regard. It's also hilarious and the soundtrack is the best of any film. (Kevin Shields and MBV <3 )

So overrated - its sad the dude topped himself (or whatever) but it was long winded self indulgent crap
 
Avatar. This wasn't the first 3d film out with the latest generation of technology yet seemingly everybody went potty over this stupid film.

Inception - intelligent storyline, I got it thanks. Not worthy of all the mental shouts of joy though.
