I'm proberley kicking a hornets nest with this question but in the last few years I've kinda forgot about PC gaming (despite having a gaming PC all along), just found console gaming easyer for everything but RTS's, but I just upgraded my PC for Starcraft 2 and kinda got back into playing PC games again. So was just wondering what are the pros and cons these days? Like are PC graphics better than the PS3/360 version of a game on the hole or are they the same and is PC gaming as buggy as it used to be (cause thats half the reason I pretty much stopped) and how come some games come out on PC months after the console version these days?
 
PC gaming died in 2007.. oh and 2008.. no wait 2009 was its demise.. no no its going to die again 2010 !!

Games come out on console first because they can charge more (imo, I have no source).

Console = **** out on the sofa - put the dvd in and it works with no issue. Cheap hardware.
PC = enthusiast gamer - much better graphics and mouse+keyboard. Expensive hardware.

Threads like this pop up now and again, 'omg pc gaming is dead my xbox/ps3 is teh best'.
Followed by a thread 2 days later 'my xbox/ps3 has broken it is ghey I love my pc'.

should be..

PC = enthusiast gamer - much better graphics and mouse+keyboard. Expensive hardware...put it in it doesnt always work the same everytime or first time, there is always at least one issue.
 
Sorry no not a troll thread, was worried people would think that, should have maybe tried wording it better.
Another reason I ask really is cause my missus is always watching the TV so can't get near the consoles half the time so if they were just as good (hopefully better) on PC I will go that way from now on has I have spent a decent amount on my PC (q6600, decent mobo, twin 4870 gfx card's 6gb memory, razor mouse etc) so should really use it more often.

I have never had an issue with any of the games I play on PC.
 
PC's are **** mate dont bother. a waste of ****ing money. poor games. poor SD graphics, crap controls and rubbish booklets that came with the PC games.

Consoles rule they are the best. They can play at 1080p in 3d at 100fps, has loads of great innovative none dumbed down games, and reliable as a rock

I sense sarcasm in this post.

People enjoy playing on PC, people enjoy playing on console, just stick with whichever one you like or even, and this is a bit of a mad suggestion as in it's completely off the wall wacko and out there, play games on both :eek:

WHAAAAT ! Both, are you mad man ! :p But seriously PC vs Console is just childish. Stick to what you like and suits you, or as shockingly suggested ... use both
 
We have two PCs fit for gaming, a PS2, a PS3, an Xbox 360, two GBA's and a DS.

I find that there are various reasons I'd use either a PC or a console. First and foremost is the availability of good games - obviously. Uncharted 2 isn't on the PC, so it's a no-brainer for that. Crysis isn't on the PS3, so that's also a no-brainer.

Then there are a few games on both - Mass Effect and Fable games are out on console first, so I buy them for the console. Oblivion was out on both but I opted for the PC version for modding reasons. Modding on a console doesn't really happen.

Other things that come into it include what my friends are buying it for if it won't work multiplatform, whether or not it will make use of a full keyboard (eg. MMORPGs tend to be better for this) and depending on how good my PCs are at the time, graphics will also come into play.

The most limiting thing is definitely the volume of games being released though. Consoles get a hell of a lot more than PCs. Mind you, the PC games I buy tend to be better for replays - Civ, Football Manager, etc. are all great games for months if not years rather than just days.
 
Console gaming is the ugly, not very intelligent more socially relaxed version of PC gaming.

This is quite possibly the most sensible post I've seen in a thread discussing PC and Console in the PC section, kudos :)

I have pretty much the same attitude as you when it comes to choosing console/pc for a game: availability, release date, what my friends will have it on, controller and features.
 
I have both a 360 and a PC I use them both

PC gaming is faster, better graphics.....but a lot more expesnive and a bit more trouble but the machine itself is multipurpers...unlike consle that can only....watch flims and game.
