Do you "Race" with a wheel

Agree the g25 is a must , also get a good office chair for comfort "i Have 2 in my computer room" also does TDU2 have gear control looking forward to that released also rfactor2 Nice one never New that.

TDU1 had it all along with TrackIR etc so I'm guessing TDU2 will :D Copy pasta!!!

i race with a DFGT and they are great wheels with plenty of customizable buttons, good FFB,

yea i wish id bought a G25 when they were £100 everywhere:/ gutted now.

im lookinh at a DF GT.. does it have clutch updownshift padels behind the steering wheel? the gearstick is on the wrong side

id rather use paddles.

i have a DF GT reserved for me at £79 quid which isnt a bad price but as abovce i wish id gotten a g25 but they are sold out everywhere:/

For my g25 i just went to the scrapies and got a bucketchair made a base out of wood, a bit of wood carved out for the gearstick and that was great for a racing char :D, for the pedals there was a contraption on the chair and the pedals fitted on it at an angle so its just like sitting in a sports car for around £15-£20 :D

I use wheel when the physics are up for it. Games like iRacing, rFactor (mods), Richard Burns Rally and GP4 (mods) I always play with a wheel but I really dislike the way a wheel feels when driving arcade games like Grid, Dirt/Dirt 2, NFS:Shift etc. It feels very unnatural so with arcade games it's keyboard all the way.

At a certain high street store i presume got mine in the sale there for £50 earlier in the year so it was a no brainer.

Yes it does have little paddles on the back for shifting. tho they are more like buttons with some resistance. If you are getting it from the high street store i would reccomend asking for a viewing first and looking for yourself.

Also note this wheel does no have a clutch and only a tiptronic up/down gear system but the amount of buttons on the wheel makes things quite easy for some games,

If you would like me to post some pics of the paddle shifters then let me know but i'm pretty sure there will be some on googi pics

also bear in mind it can be used on ps3 aswell (please don't hurt me lol)

yes mine is primarily for ps3 usage!

i have mine reserved as a collect at store from a semi high street type retailer. ill hve a look around tonight and see if anywhere has them on display. my reserved unit is being held until tomorrow night so i have an extra day to make a decision

The problem with gaming wheels is that of setting them up. As in, you've got to clamp them down to a table. In my living room thats next to impossible...

I never use my wheel due to this... Have a DF GT, got it sometime ago. Was ok, force feedback as excellent. I tried one of this thingies you sit on, it works but I'm a bit forceful when playing racing games and move around with the game when it gets frantic, I even move the pad when I turn, I know its stupid...

But, means I need to clamp a wheel down, and clamp it down well otherwise it'll move and means playing with a wheel in the living room isn't possible..

Those wheel stands are fine and good, but they are expensive.. Joypad is just so quick and easy.

I **** you not, it's excellent for gt5 prologue and the upcoming gt5 the dial on the front and being able to adjust settings on the fly is pure awesomeness i mean going down a straight into a mild corner lower some settings pull out of corner upto a hairpin and increase the TC and ABS it's just bloody great TBH and i'm really hoping F1 games in the future use the dial effectively and that GT5 includes some more settings to make it more realistic i really miss buying parts on GT5 prologue and adding stupidly large turbo's to small cars. Surely you must remember the escudos pikes peak in GT3 :):)

heh i always preferred taking an old skyliner r32 and doing something crazy race modifications for it...

i actually prefer racing a 286bhp AE82 than a 700+bhp Escudos Peak job...but im thinking time to go hardcore and get seated.

my thumbs are incapable of using analogue sticks, i am hardwired for digital playback only so i use a DPAD and D buttons for my brakes/accel etc and when im 110% committed i can balance the throttle mid corner etc but not for 10 laps in a row. with pedals i can see me being much better!

yes im going to have to build something or get a really hardcore something to rest it on. movement/slack is not allowed!!!!! thats what puts me off tbh. but im sure ingenuity can fix it.

I've got a G27 arriving next week, I am mainly getting it for for when Gran Turismo 5 and F1 2010 come out. I have no idea how im gonna set it up, will probably end up making a thread here for assistance lol.

Another G25 over here, awesome stuff and for only £130 here at Oc.

Once you've used a good wheel it feels wrong to play most driving games with a pad, don't think i'll ever go back now. My only beef is that the force feedback keeps destroying my desk :D

Same here..ive had to attach my desk to the wall because of it:D

Your sig says you have invested heavily into your PC... for £200 you could get a G25 + Wheel Stand pro form the auction site and you will know what the fuss is all about!!

True, sadly I erm.... didn't pay for that rig. My dear old mother, bless her paid the bill to build it as a thank you for something I did for her many years ago..

I helped her out of some real trouble, and when she finally came into some money she paid for a new PC, I didn't at first want it but she wouldn't say no - so the rig in the sig is what I got, for free.. And a damn fine PC it is too.

I might think about getting a G25 or a G27 or something, and a stand etc. I agree, racing with a wheel would be fantastic. and I do love my racing games.
