... I thought the game play and storyline was pretty good.

I was expecting both to suck judging by the negative views people had of this game.

Granted, much of the dissatisfaction may stem from having high requirements (even today) to run this game but I'm I really the only one to find this game somewhat decent??

There is a thread on the graphics forum about a dude who had 4 way SLI who maxed out crysis. I think its going to be one of those games that we will get from the bargain bin in a couple of years to finally play it on max.

I couldn't agree enough mate! A fantastic game that I've kept installed on my rig ever since the day I bought the game. It is just so much fun and the story is great, excellent to randomly just skim through he game save thumbnails and play certain parts on occasion.

I too was amazed when I heard the negativity about this game but a lot of people like to get stuck on details obsess over them and many tastes differ so let it be.

Trust me. We aren't the only ones.

I also loved the game and loved the idea and story behind it. I also greatly enjoyed warhead. Only downsides to the games where harsh performance even on todays equipment with AA enabled and an average multiplayer.

The story sucks, its unoriginal, its got a standard alien ship with stupid mavity section thats just boring, the aliens are boring, theres only like 3 aliens, and they are all boring to fight, the weapons feel dull, the massively open world, feels rather to linear, the suit options feel like a hassle to use, not least because its not a hard game and simply shooting guys is quicker, easier, and less boring. Go invisible, run a bit, hide in bush, recharge, go invisible, run a bit more............. That got boring after about the first minute, same goes for boring jumping up to cool area's to attack people from, and frankly superstrength was just poop.

Never has such a nice world felt so truly bland.

It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't close to great, and really when you put that much effort into the engine, some better levels that encourage alternate attacking, and less ridiculous limits that make using the other suit options fun rather than slower, a chore and a bit gay would have improved the game no end.

You must think the story sucks on every single game out then if you have such a critical view of crysis. Also I didn't use invisible once on my playthrough on hard so maybe you just need to change your playstyle?

Superstrength had a lot of uses and not just for jumping. If you bothered to melee anything in the game you'd notice you can do either massive damage via direct hits or use crates etc as weaponry.

I enjoyed it. I'm due a re-play soon because it's been a while and I've upgraded a few things since it came out. It was the last proper PC game for me.

**SPOILERS**

How on earth could you consider an alien artifacte blowing up in your face and turning a tropical island into an iceburg.... boring!? You exit this cave and the entire world is a frozen mess, you freeze your way through with the screen freezing up and find your losy team mate fighting off a swam of the insane flying aliens. You thought he was dead but he's still here wounded but kicking arse.

Yeah so utterly boring.

Did you even play it all the way through or watch all the youtube spoilers... or did you just try to get through it as fast as you could on easy.

The criticism Crysis received (and still receives) is unwarranted. The storyline is solid, it plays out well and it has a suitably 'epic' feel. It's even better if you play it on Delta difficulty.

I found it really enjoyable and it's one of a handful of single player games I've bothered to play through to the end in recent years as I tend to find them too boring/easy and would rather play online multiplayer games.

I agree that half life and half life 2 are up there in the story line department, but the story arc does take forever to be revealed. The difficulty could be improved by putting the difficulty on hard or delta. It does feel epic!

* Spoiler*

I really liked the mission where your inside the cave are you are in zero G.

* end spoiler*

I thought it was pretty well done for a fps, and it was quite gripping using all the suit functions when your so close to dying. I can imagine liking playing the game a more if it ran much more smoothly on my computer with more eye candy like max shaders so your free to enjoy the game without slow downs.

Read a few of Drunkenmaster's other posts, he's a very positive person ;)

I loved Crysis, best FPS I'd played in a long time. It helped that I didn't go near it until I had a 5770 mind you.

I agree entirely, really liked the whole game and never got this feeling of it 'just being a tech demo' probably helped tbh that I didn't try playing it till got my 5850.

I too love this game, just played it through for about the fifth time and each time I did things differently or used different weapons.

My only gripe was that theres too much ammo available and the rocket launchers are too uber, how can you get three such devastating shots from such a small tube ?

Agreed. When nerds can't run a game smoothly on maximum, on day one, they fall into a blind rage and can never enjoy the game, ever. :)

Lots of fun and tons of ways to approach any particular challenge. Picking up a squiggly metal alien robot thing by the neck and punching it into nothing never gets old.
