Microsoft "It's time to invest in PC gaming"

Theres a vast amount of money in the games industry and having games ported across to other platforms can earn companies a fortune. Look at the revenue of world of warcraft or the sheer volume of sales from modern warefare 2. If you listen to the community and have some talent is pretty damn easy to make a fortune in this area and microsoft understand this.

I find it highly amusing. I think that either yes they are too lazy to make a new console so 'lets do PC stuff for a while to tide us over' or its just MS spouting BS as usual. Only thing is, even if they do go serious on PC games I bet it will be the same old crap they do for consoles...streamlined mass market games, of which I'm not interested in. I'm waiting for EA, Ubi etc to suddenly find some PC love as well.....its all about the money

I think they are seeing the returns on things like Farmville and Mafia Wars and Plants vs Zombies... if Microsoft gets back to their PC portfolio it will be on casual or accessible content. There are notable exceptions like Age of Empires Online and Microsoft Flight, but I think they are only just starting to pip on the casual fold now.

Everyone knows PC game development gets you atrocious returns. Millions of dollars spent on development only for games to sell in the thousands and not millions.

They are making the new console right now, as it has always been...

well they did just announce two exclusives

They also announced that this year would be the first year that FIFA on PC would use full "next-gen" graphics and be equal or better than the consoles.

MS have gone on for years and years about how the average end user PC isn't powerful enough to justify they spend significant amounts on even generating decent ports of triple A titles.

They've woken up this year and realised the average PC is quite powerful, and that there are more than enough mid-to-high-end gamers out there that would adore them for making eye-candy based games with good gameplay.

Yes but its going to be a while before it gets to market, hence why I think them pushing Kinect etc and a sudden love for PC games is a form of tiding themselves over in the meantime. Many thought the 360s' successor would come about now or in the next year.

world of warcraft is a pc only game so why are you refering it to a cross platform game?:confused::rolleyes:
