Giving evidence in crown court

to be honest mate, surely you can say that recollection is a bit vague as you were beaten around the head in an unprovoked assault!

edit to say: good luck mate, give them hell :)

First thing he'll ask you is "do you recognise these gentlemen?"

If you say no then it'll be bad for you. They will do anything to discredit your story :(

If there are independent corroborating witnesses, then discrediting his story will do little good.

I would imagine that, depending on the number of witnesses, the defendants may well enter a plea on the day.

Just remember that even if they don't get what they deserve in court, they'll always be scum, and you'll always be better than them.

You'd think that, but I've been in court and seen people lose decisions because the defendant was too adamant in the truth and when the prosecution has been proved to have lied on several occasions.

It's messed up, and for that reason.. I'm out.

I know that road and it is real sorry to hear, I only live a 5min walk away. Do you think they have it on CCTV as their is the big office block opposite and loads of takeawaysim sure it might be on camera from somewhere so I shouldn't worry about being made to recognise them.

It must be quite common for victims to not recognise the attackers. Plus if they have witnesses to point them out thats good. Just perhaps focus on the extent of the injuries, don't go overboard but be honest. If it has affected other aspects of your life  bring them up.

I hope they get what they deserve (and if it is the wrong people thats being found innocent) From the sounds of it they will get whats coming and good luck.

Cheers mate.

It was the alley where Orange Rooms etc is, I just looked on google street and there's a massive CCTV camera above the area lol, completely missed it before. And it's council owned, so they probably got that.

Really just outside orange rooms, it is normally quite a busy walk way. There will be good CCTV atleast and a good chance justice is seen.

Just don't panic if you can't answer a question don't it is better than trying to force your mind to remember as they will make you confused.

Im kind of glad i was put to bed by 8 oclock on my 21st now :p

Don't know if anyone is interested in the outcome of this, but moments before we were due to go into crown court they changed their plea to guilty :) great result.

Evidently it's quite popular for the defence council to suggest a gamble. Witnesses so often don't bother turning up due to the hassle or grief/stress it may cause. If my friend or I hadn't turned up the case would have been thrown out and they would have got away with it, but the fact we turnt up and were ready to give evidence was kind of calling their bluff.

They'll be sentenced next month, but a really good result for us. This whole experience has taught me a lot about our justice system, and brings to light the fact that there's not much wrong with it besides the amount of time it takes. The system works fine, it's the people using it that are the problem.

Nicely done mate, very nice :p

Wish me luck in my friends case too... will also need to attend court to give evidence :o
Same case as you, except in my case it involves insane an insane man in his 40's running towards us and hitting us with a spade :p
and he said he was going to kill us, and we all believed him by the looks of how insane he was :D

edit: Not to mention he had a 3 guns in his shed which got confiscated after the event.

Your lucky, when i got a kicking for no reason from some welsh holiday maker, the police caught him but didn't want to know! I wasn't as bad as you but i still spent a night in hospital, had a week off work and had £200 dental fees to pay. I bet your really angry, i was, but if i had the chance i would be at that court like yourself.
