Bristol Airport parking

Would it be cheaper/easier to get a train to Bristol? I presume there are reasonable transport links to the airport.

Bristol have the worst of all transport links.. that's why it's losing it's label as an international airport. I recommend parking near the airport, there are many pubs/fields that you can park up in.. I don't have any names off hand sorry.

What? It didn't 'lose' it's label as an international airport?! The reason they dropped the word 'international' from it's name is because the bosses at Bristol thought that because of it's (increased) size it doesn't need to advertise the fact that is international any more, it's obvious. More passenger's have travelled through the airport this year than ever before and we're in a recession.

Granted it does have poor transport links (only the Bristol Flyer, but not a bad coach service though), it is six miles outside of Bristol and was never intended to be as big an airport as it is now. One of the conditions of the airports expansion plan is that it has to fund better links to it.

To the OP I advise not parking in any pub/field while you are away, you want to know that your car is secure. If it was me I would park at the airport, but it is expensive and if you're happy to park elsewhere both links look decent enough.

Parking at the airport if you pay in advance isn't too bad I have to say, go and look on their website. It means you get a bus from where you park the car, you know its going to be safe, and then when you get back at stupid o clock and you're shattered you don't have to walk miles to get the car back :)

As for saying Bristol's transport links are the worst, they arent amazing, but i'd never go anywhere near as far as saying they are the worst.

Parked in the official car park for 7days was ~£30 worked out cheaper than the three of us getting buses.
No idea about the unofficial stuff though.

There's the Forge car park just opposite the entrace to the airport, it's quite a bit cheaper than the official car park. You can just turn up and park (well, I always have anyway)

When I flew from Bristol, I got a train up to Temple Meads and jumped on a coach from there. Probably easier to park in Bristol, no? I was going to be stuck there on the way home though, but managed to scrounge a lift to a service station where a mate already was and got a lift back from there. Very lucky bugger that day. :p

I've never driven to any flight I've had - it always works out the most expensive option. Going to the Airport is one of the rare occasions when public transport really makes sense, IMHO.

Cheap way to Bristol from Plymouth is to split the ticket into a Plymouth to Exeter and an Exeter to Bristol leg.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll actually be driving from Bridgwater, Somerset. So i'm only about 35~ minutes away from the airport.

Even less reason to bother. Get somebody to give you a lift or something, maybe even book a taxi.

Yeh probably my best option, gonna have to brown nose some mates :(

I have visited Bristol airport twice. Much nicer then heathrow, but why did they built it there. After you come off the motorway you've got about half an hours driving through town and then through bits of the country side.

I live a bit south of Gloucester, and need to get to Paris, there was a flight for £29.99. But getting there would probably have cost me more then that.

I used to work for the car parks at Bristol - Silver Zone is usually where you get put when you book through an agency, it's a block parking service where you have to leave your keys and your car is parked for you, good shuttle service - it's just on the other side of the airfield.

Standard long stay is the most convenient because you can just walk to the terminal but can be a little bit more expensive.

Using the off site carparks is a risk tbh, i've heard so many horror stories as the cars are usually just left in fields - cheaper though.
