my friend has downloaded a torrented movie, he works for an ISP, he did it at work on his laptop. They sent an email this morning saying they caught him etc etc. What are the punishments? can he just delete it and nothing can be done about it ?
lol he's an idiot, punishments in the extreme, copyright theft, courts, fine, i think possibly jail too but thats for extreme cases, he could possibly lose his job and his net connection at home ( ISP's have a nice habit of just shutting down connections at home for this type of thing)
deleting it wont change anything, he done it in the first place, and i'm sure the ISP's logs for such things wont be deleted anytime soon
That has got to be the silliest thing I've heard in a while. Wouldn't be so bad if he'd done it from home but AT work, using the work internet connection. This would not lookm good for any ISP so they'd have to come down hard on him I'd imagine.
it does seem totally daft, did this actually happen or has the OP fabricated the story, i cant imagine the guy coming out with this just off topic, also, he works, for an ISP no less, he must know about the internet somewhat, most expensive film on iTunes dont cost 15 quid, or is he just a stupid tightwad lol, i hope it was a marvellous film, because it could cost him a packet lol
The one thing you should be wary of, if or when you download under the books, is your ISP catching you. So to do it while working at an ISP, using their internet connection, is just bonkers.
If they follow it up, it could be a court case for piracy. Almost certainly a sacking.
