Final Fantasy games

I think most people would agree that 7 and 8 are the gems of the saga.... However the graphics sucks (7 more than 8). But these are gems because of their story lines and the battle systems etc...

10 was awesome if it wasn't for the linear storyline and 10-2 was ok but i didn't get on well with the battle system... This is where I left the saga and went to MMORPGs so cant comment on the later ones... but i dont think you could go wrong with any of them...

1 tip... There will always be haters and lovers of each FF..... no doubt some people dont like the gems i have listed above....

What? That's clearly FFX, looks like one of the roads away from Luca.

That's what I thought.

I've only played 7,8,9,10 (although in the order 8, 10, 9, 7 for some reason :p)

7: amazing - great characters, great story, gameplay a tad easy. was absolutely engaging the whole way through. music is amazing. probably my favourite, but it's close...
8: very good - good characters, good story, GF junction system was great. solid game.
9: very good - some very memorable characters, good story, good item/magic system. difficult in places. some amazing scenes with fantastic music that you won't forget
10: OK - annoying as hell characters (teenagers!), good story, very very easy* Turn-based, good use of Aeons, character skill sets are a bit basic, lite on strategy

*except the optional "monster zoo" which requires you to grind levels and get all the rare items, or is otherwise impossible

Overall I'd say believe the hype, and try 7. If you can't get past the graphics, try 8 or 9. If you simply must have the best graphics, and voice acting, try 10, but be warned: if you aren't a teenager the dialogue will make you cringe!

Anything after 10... well... the new breed are nothing like the old breed.

I like 10, i played it a good amount but i lost my saves grr cos of new pcsx2 version. Not looking forward to replaying all that as took me quite a few hrs. Suppose wouldn't mind a similar one to X with voice acting turn based battle system unlike 12, was it, when they used that line system crap.

I had played 7 or 8 the most popular one and i liked it but too much dialogue to read through it just hurts my eyes reading that much i really prefer voice acting in my games these days. Years ago i wouldn't have minded say 15 years ago when i was a kid and enjoyed the best rpg ever which was zelda on snes. Damn i loved that game. If it did have voice acting it would be a god status game.

Tried secret of mana and ff on snes but i duno I guess it just didnt look as nice or as good as the gameplay from zelda tho its probs cos i was too used to zelda games in general and I knew the basic story from the nes games.

Secret of Mana is hands-down the best ever RPG. I demand you go back and play it immediately ;)

That looks lke IX to me. But VII had chocobo racing.

That's the Mi'ihen Highroad from FFX, I don't know what version of IX you were playing that had graphics like that!

Anyway, FFIX was probably my favourite.

FF7 had abominable graphics and sound quality.
FF8 only focused on Riona and Squall, the other characters were neglected.
FF9 trance system was terrible.
FF10 impossible to obtain sigils due to insane difficulty, grinding took on a new meaning with penance and the dark aeons.

Most of the characters in FF9 were 16 or under!

They weren't super-annoying, however ;)

In FFX, there are sooo many scenes were all the characters get together, you know, to talk about how hard their lives are, you know, and the trials and tribulations of fancying someone, you know, and for some reason that defies all explantion, you know, they can't say anything at all without the words "you know", you know.

It's really that annoying :p
