Friend is thinking of getting the following

He will carry over his 4850, Samsung F3, Monitor, dvd drive and OS from his current machine.

What do you guys think? I was gonna help him do his own overclock but the bundle is such a good price and I find overclocking quite tedious.

heh, I was thinking I could get him a second one off the members market and cross fire them. Could you cross fire a 4870 and a 4850 and would there be a performance hit to the 4870?

then crossfire will suck, the second slot only runs at 4X speed.

Not to worry, just stick with a single gpu in the future, its all that ocz psu can realistically manage anyway, its only got two pcie connectors, so a GTX460 would be mint.

Ok, well he's gonna order the above + a 1gb 460. Any objections? Which is the best 460 to go for? The gigabyte looks like it has a decent cooler on it.

I would say the gigabyte ones with the dual fans or the MSI Cyclone one.

Does the 300 come with 3.5 to 5.25 adapters for the front? I think my 1200 had one.
