I'm not buying another workstation until I can get a dual processor octocore system @ 4ghz per core with at least 12GB RAM installed.

tbh I don't think it will be that long away, but it's gonna cost...

you are talking realistically next year at my best estimation.

at least for workstation level with any hope of overclocking.

It's already here - As above ... dual processor hex core and NO It doesn't cost unless you start being extravagant ....

Talking of which .... RJ why did you you favour the LSI over ich10r ? Surely it's not that much gain ? ;)

NEEDs LINKY to disk benchmarks mate :D

i don't want hexcore - i want octocore :) i like decimal type upgrades :)

rj - next year's fine - i was expecting that. i just hope you guys man up and start offering 12GB bundles. remember i was messaging you guys in the tech forum about installing an extra 6GB? just shoved it in in the end and it works, with your OC intact. not as hard as you made out it would be :) come on... 12GB or 24GB bundles soon please! i'm sure there are many others here who'd be happy to pay for that.

my Dream PC would have specs which every one you looked at you'd have to say

IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:P

Think rjknoneill has the right idea with the setup.

Although I'd get a Imac - just to have a neat all in one pc. And then several other monitors /tv's aswell.

Probably get myself a military state of the art cctv system for the house - if I was mad enough to have the rest of that for gaming, I'd probably have a massive house.

Should have clarified that I'd get it along with the gaming desktop. Given that I'd only go that extreme when I'd have millions and millions to waste, and then It would only be to go with the black desk I have.

The alternative would be to source laptop i7 parts to build my own all in one, which would be a better idea.
