a new feature for OCUK site OCUK site peoples READ plz

Regarding the OPs suggestion; the amount of development work and the amount of emails generated means that having it alert on the number of things listed probably wouldn't be realistic ... but limiting it to whether something is in stock, or not, would probably be realistic and a reasonable idea.

As to the whole readability of the initial post ... one of the good things about this forum is the lack of "text speak" and things of that nature. If you do descend into this sort of thing then don't expect people to take you posting seriously. Yes the grammar police do go over the top and it does get a bit irritating at times, (this is a forum, not a formal document ... a reasonable standard of communication should be maintained but there's no reason to go over the top if the post is basically understandable).

As to why he was suspended ... well given the attitude he was showing in post 37 ...

Perhaps some clarification is needed.

Would you like to see an option to use your verified e-mail address - so that you can be notified of when an "out-of-stock" item is back in stock?

Clear enough for you? ;)

You wouldn't say something given the amount of sarky posts and insults he received in here?

True ... but given he posted that there's a good possibility he posted something else which was moderated away which lead to the suspension.

Overall he would have probably done better to post in the product suggestions forum instead of general discussion, (maybe that forum should be renamed to be product and website suggestions).

I like the idea! Would be a nice feature to have.

Shame the kids on suspension already. I did manage to understand his post first time, but the OP was a mess! His third post or so was quite a bit more legible - proving he can type.

I understood what he meant in his opening post, pathetic other members jumped on him and ripped him to shreads.

Very harsh if he was suspended because of the way he wrote.

Totally agree. This thread is a shocking example of the poor attitudes held by a lot of members here. Threads like these reflect negatively on the whole forum community and convey a horrible impression to potential new users.

Who are we to criticise someone's grammar and writing style, the circumstances surrounding which we know absolutely nothing about? Had the OP's post been illegible, then this would be another story, but rude responses are never justified. Granted, it took me a little longer to read and understand the OP, but who cares? He's come here with good intentions to make a suggestion he feels will benefit the community. The fact that people have taken more than the time it would have taken to slow down a little and read through the OP's post, to instead write a scathing reply is IMO quite appalling. Shame on you.

To the OP - I like the thinking behind the idea, although I'm not sure the implementation you've detailed is the most appropriate. I agree with the wish list idea mentioned earlier.

I agree there are far too many 'sheep' on this forum and the modertators dont seem to care or be able to sort it. They should take a look at the Relic boards if they need moderation direction.
Puts me off buying stuff.

I put the OP's post through Babelfish. This is what I got;

Ok, Hey all. So I was just thinking. I've been subscribed to the weekly newsletter for ages now and I feel it's very useful - however it doesn't inform me of a specific product's status. I kinda wish the forums had the ability to start a poll to be honest.

Anyway, who agrees with me that OcUK needs a box next to all of their items where you can choose to be emailed of changes in that product's price & availability.

Do you think it would be a good idea or not? Let me hear your response, thank you!

To add my input, yes I think that would be a very good idea indeed!

Why is this forum full of miserable ***** lately? Okay, so his spelling and grammar quite frankly sucked, but I could still understand everything he wrote.

Give the guy a break.

Ok i do agree that it would be a very good idea to actually have a system like this in place, but as others have said it would take a long time so i would not be expecting a system like that any time soon. However i doubt it would happen due to the amount of work being required and i cannot see any gains the business could make from it.

Pretty good idea.

Not sure why so many busted his balls...yeah his post wasn't well written but click the back button if you don't want to read it. It seems some of you are just waiting to belittle someone for whatever reason and it comes across as quite spiteful.

if the OP was suspended because of this thread then they (the mods) need to take a long hard look at some of the more frequent members if they are going to start slapping on sus's for things like this.

It is a good idea. Other online retailers have this ability and i have used it myself on quite a few occasions. The idea being that something you want is at a good price but is out of stock, so you have the chance to recieve a email when it comes back in stock.

To OP - so you would like a feature on OcUK where you could subscribe (for want of a better word) to a product and recieve updates on prices, reviews or such like via email? Sort of like the bay? Could be useful... but how much work would be needed to implement such a service? Also exactly how much benifit would a potential customer actually recieve from the service, that they couldn't get from actually viewing the site or viewing the deals the existing weekly email, forum, or weekly deals section? I guess it would save maybe a few mouse clicks. Nice idea though.

I dare say that I agree. However, I read the OP earlier when the thread was just posted and thought little of it (although in a sense the OP's idea is good), so maybe he's had an offensive retort of his deleted and was sussed for it after being wound up by the replies in this thread?

Being a particular type of noob in this place can be difficult unless you're a 'water off a duck's back' type of person.

Implementation wise it wouldn't be at all difficult. You're right in that it wouldn't do anything more than if you were to just look yourself but it's convenient. Convenience is good :)

Yeah perhaps you're right. :)

No kidding, particularly when you get little twerps talk to you like your a bag of **** on here. You have to just brush it off as its that or get wound up about it. All said and done, 90% of time when people act like morons on here its because hidden behind a monitor - face to face people tend to give what they say a little more thought or wouldn't dare say anything of the kind in the first place.
