Hi guys, just putting together a new computer, how does this look?

Any suggestion on how to improve etc?

Also any suggestions of a monitor to match, up to £270?

thanks in advance for replies :)

do u have any plans for SLI at all ?

if not, then the PSU would be overkill

650/750 would be better for a single GPU

i would also go for an SSD instead of the velicorapter, less space, but much faster, quiter and more reliable.

also if you looking to save some money, u could reduce the motherboard without much effect

i originally suggested an SSD, 120Gb, for OS and main programs/games. How much of a difference in load times/system response would there be between the Velociprator and an SSD?

The PSU was a just in case factor so there'd always be enough. but i doubt we'd SLI in the end, probably likely to just upgrade to the next big GPU at the time.

thanks for the speedy replies

This Build will be much better for your needs, trust me, you do not need that mobo unless you are some insane overclocker or are going to to quad GPU card setups. Also this will give you the option to go SLI in the future, or if you would like to upgrade to the latest GPU card setup, and this case provides the best airflow, its only competitor is the coolmaster HAF x case which is £20 extra. Total cost £1820. inc VAT = Shipping

an SSD is noticably quicker than a velociraptor, and boot times are better as well.

i have both an SSD and the 300gb velociraptor, and programs run of the SSD feel quicker

I would go with the ASUS P6X58D MB over that vastly overpriced Rampage III Extreme and just go for a decent air cooler over the H70 system which is relatively new out and overpriced as well.

Boot times won't be vastly quicker with the SSD if you have the G15 keyboard because loading the drivers and activating the keyboard adds to boot time as well.

Right guys, I've took in your suggestions, switched some bits and bobs like PSU and Mobo,

Just wondering what size SSD should i be going for? and what will i be using it for, what will be installed and how would i setup my system based on this SSD?

also is the GTX480 definitely the best single card solution right now?

(i know i could Google all this, but getting straight up answer from people on a familiar forum is a little more comforting when spending this amount of cash :) )

thanks again

64GB seems the most reasonable price/capacity for SSDs atm. Normally people stick the OS and a few of their favourite games on it. The 1TB drives would then just be used as storage etc (same as with the raptor in your original spec).

GTX 480 is indeed the fastest single GPU card available atm.

Should only need a 60/64 as a boot drive either the crucial or the corsair as posted will do you well. 2 samsung f3 will make easy work of the storage needs

just a small recommendation,

drop the SSD and wait for the Samsung F4's to come out, get 2x in RAID 0, will only cost £64 for SSD level speeds and 640GB of storage

When will the F4's be available?

Building a computer is always just wait for this, that and eventually you don't actually pick anything up because your sat waiting for the next thing.

DAMN i just recently bought f3, and i already had an f1? !?!

edit: any f2s? lol..

don't worry, only suggesting them here because they're a good replacement for SSD's seeing as they're 320GB, as fast as VRaptors and only cost £64 a pair

Oh and do you REALLY need the latest most expensive graphics card? Ive learnt through experience that there really is no point. You pay such a premium for what you get. Most games are still very playable with the mid-top end cards.
