Who/What is Alan?

Everyone is banging on about "ALLAAANNNN!!" but they won't tell me who/what Alan is?

Anyone know?

There's a genre of word shouting at festivals every year - long gone are the days where you would hear a sonic wave generated by 80,000 people exclaiming another word for "Gentleman orbs".

Long gone? This happened last year when I went to reading?
 
it used to be ******** or another word for male nuts. I got banned for using it in circumstances similar to this.
