Finance haters gonna hate :-)

it was a very low deposit, I expected to pay through the nose for it... I'm not bothered about it in the slightest, but knew you lot would be hence starting thread :)

So you are categorically saying that you started the thread to spark a fuming debate over a finance deal that you knew was shockingly poor anyway?

I want to thank you on behalf of anyone who was looking at financing a car and now thought otherwise.

You've saved them quite a bit of money!!

It will be fine, my dissposable income is quite high, plus there will be residual value left in the car so it's not 'that' bad as you quote, the car will be sold / traded.

Residual value, what? There will be epic deprecition which you have ignored.

I still don't see why someone who has stated "money isn't an issue" is taking such a big hit taking a finance deal with nowt to show at the end, quite frankly it smacks at the total oposite and points to the fact that money is an issue.

Nail, hit, head.

It just doesn't make any sense and is a jumble!

The important thing is that your wife likes the car, you both feel that buying it was a sensible decision, and you are happy. Enjoy your new car :)

2.5k to be exact, which is not a lot of money

edit: there is no lesson here, buying on finance costs money, however, buying a nearly new car on finance is cheaper than buying a brand new on finance, I would have thought that was obvious though ?

Also if money isn't an "issue" then why are you financing one of the cheapest almost new cars on the market?

What is the relevance on the car with respect to the finance.

He bought a £7K item, he didn't have £7K, so he financed it, what the item is is largely irrelevant, it could be any manner of cars, it could have been a bike, it could have been crack cocaine.

Lets face it, if he bought Moeks Jaaagg (Nice car btw.. I'm not knocking it, expect the colour ;)), it'd still be as poor a financing deal, it wouldn't change anything in my book.. Except I would agree with him that a 3+ litre Jag for his missus to run around town would actually be a pretty daft idea..

2.5K is not a lot of money, what
It isn't in the grand scheme of things, just look at a mortgage, and your eyes will water even more, but people tend to ignore this kind of thing.

It has taken a while before the "as long as your happy" brigade arrived.
Yet you are jumping in on the "oh look its the "as long as your are happy brigade" brigade".. As long as people are aware of the facts of the deal/finance/car then it's up to them to make decision based on the information we give, and their personal preferences/situations, trying to enforce your way of life/thinking etc on someone else is not a good thing at all.. so as long as they are 'aware' and happy with their purchase, it's not the end of the world, it's just not something you'd do or recommend..

I really hope these people you show around the cars, you immediately tell them how poor it would be to actually buy one, and educate them on what they should do, otherwise you really are being two faced and quite deceitful..

But he DID have £7,000 cash (according to one of his earliest posts).

slightly off topic, anyone else have a car on finance ?, though I suspect your kahoonas to small to admit it :)

As I said earlier, I had a £5,000 personal loan in order to buy my (£10,000) Leon Cupra R.

Yep I have to agree, you don't get rich by thinking 2.5k isn't a lot of money, it’s not the attitude those who enjoy wealth over a prolonged period of time have.

Thats a sweeping statement, of course it's a lot to some, I was saying to me in my current situation it's nothing to worry about or in fact give a second thought to.

So you are now generalising that I will soon be broke ?
