Aint it a shame..

thats the beauty of pc gaming. it has sth for everyone. most people here are enthusiasts though.

That's part of the point though. Consoles have that too, for every MW and Viva Pinata there's a Lost Odyssey and Demon's Souls. Both platforms offer the same ideal, it's just some people seem to have a chip on a shoulder, their loss.

I agree with this. I'll buy a game on the best platform I can get it on.

I'm not going to dismiss amazing games on the PS3 or Xbox 360, just because I can play games on the PC.

Again, more sense. Some of the comments in this thread are just - wow, just wow. Play the game on the platform you want to, with the control method you like. Its all about choice..

Unfortunately you'll get the same stubborn idiotic view from either side. :(

You get console gamers that say, PC gaming is too expensive and complicated, and then the blinkered views in this thread.

Multiple platform gaming is where it's at.

pc and console gaming are too different. console gamers dont usually stick with games they just move on to the next best thing and thats the way their exclusive games are designed. I enjoyed uncharted 2 and god of war 3 but now when i think about it they only entertained me for a couple of weekends.

On the other hand pc gamers stick with quality pc games for years if not decades forming long lasting communities, developing mods to improve the graphics and gameplay of the game. they dont just move on to the next over advertised game. Plus old console games with communities instantly die when a new console generation begins. Console gaming is like mainstream pop while pc gaming is more like old school rock.

I was probably over the top. I just don't like consoles.

I was neutral towards them until all these ports really messed things up for PC players big time.

Now I've grown to dislike them intensely.

i agree pc franchises getting consolised is one of the main reasons pc gamers hate consoles. In the past pc and console gaming were different entities. now everything is messed up.

Perhaps not the best thing that could happen, but something that would amuse me greatly would be to have Microsoft and other providers of online play to merge XBox/PS3 users with PC gamers for online FPS games.

And then watch a trail of tears and rage at how you will get utterly decimated as a console gamer.

Keyboard and mouse has never come close to being beaten for so many of the game types that are really popular today. I do wonder why people prefer to play them with such an inferior control scheme.

Sofa. Big TV. Slouching. Even playing field. Exclusive shooters. It's just as fun.

It may not be as accurate, fast or competitive, but as every other player is also using a pad i don't see the issue. It's a level playing field and just as enjoyable because of this. I'm sure people enjoyed Uncharted 2 far more with their mouse and keyboard though... owait.

It was tried it didn't work.

Key section there. Mouse and keyboard are great for FPS and RTS games no doubt. But a pad is the way to go for Racing, fighting and arguably a lot of the 3rd person action games.

It's swings and roundabouts. Mouse and keyboard is not the dominate control method across the board by a long way.

Very true, its been multi platform since the early 90’s. Why some do not see this, I never know. Back in the day when I was an avid Amiga gamer I also had a SNES. We had the same arguments back then, Amiga is better, less expensive then PC, and SNES was better, less expensive then both Amiga and PC..

Oh no wait, Megadrive was better then all of them.

Give it a rest. PC gaming is excellent, fantastic platform for choice, control methods and selection of games. Lots of quick action games, or in-depth plenty of gameplay epics like Starcraft 2.

Each machine has its strengths and weaknesses. Just like they always have since gaming began.

PC gaming isn’t expensive, console gaming isn’t cheaper. PC gaming isn’t complicated, console gaming isn’t less complicated, they are what you make them.

I’m quite happy to hook my laptop up to my TV and play Batman Arkham with a 360 pad, then fire up my PS3 to play Red Dead Redemption, oh and then fire up the old xbox360 to play forza 3.

Then I’m also quite happy to use my desktop with a steering wheel and fire up Grand Prix 4 and mod and hack the game to play the 2007 F1 season..

Or use my desktop with a 1080 TFT and play with mouse and keys Half Life 2…

Not bothered which is better, or that it’s a shame I’ve missed out. I’ve not missed out, I’ve embraced all platforms. And you know, I even read comics… Is that too childish of me???

Pc gamers can play on their sofas in front of big tvs as well. i dont know why people still bring this up everytime. Actually pcs can take advantage of 1080p tvs... Btw you dont need to mention uncharted 2 everytime. I dont think many pc gamers care about a 10 hour tomb raider clone with a male character and prettier graphics.

The fact you refer to it as a tomb raider clone indicates to me you've never played it. But point made, from now on i will reference Demon's Souls!

I really can't see it being possible to slouch on a sofa and play even remotely well with a keyboard and mouse, which is why i used it as a response to someone asking why people play with a pad. Just like that time in Demon's Souls where....

i prefer 3rd person games with a mouse and keyboard any game that requires aiming and precision will always be better with a mouse its much easier to control a 3rd person camera with a mouse.

for racing games anyone who plays them more than casually will have a wheel anyway, for casual i dont think it makes much of a difference if you play on a KB you can still do fast laps

You've quite clearly not played it.

Not all third person games are shooters. Sometimes you need more finesse than WASD for movement where an analogue stick is arguably better.

Disagree massively. Even playing something arcadey like Grid or Dirt, having analogue throttles, brakes and steering is a massive improvement over keys.

but an FPS requires a kb + mouse, and the PC has this nifty ability to be able to use a pad for the games that dont need it, while a console cannot use a kb + mouse for some proper FPS action.

The PC is far more versatile and more powerful at the top end than any console, the PC can do everything the console can do and more, all it takes is for someone to offer the same things for it.

You don't need a Wii, a 360 or a PS3, each of those games can be made for the PC, and the PC can have a mouse + kb for shooting, a Wiimote for um stuff, a gamepad for fighting, a wheel for racing.

And I don't know why the PC elitists think that a M&K is the better control method.

You just can't get it into your heads that some people actually prefer to play a FPS with a pad. A M&K may be superior for accuracy and speed, but, shock horror, its more enjoyable for me with a pad.

But it doesn't have any of those now does it? For whatever reason there's something (most likely money) attracting developers over to consoles. Because of that the stance held by myself, order of the flame, Iv-techman, i-bert and others has been created, the stance of; to get the most out of gaming, play on as many platforms as you can. We're simply arguing that those saying 'PC gaming is for MEN consoles are for CHILDREN' are missing out on some of the best gaming has to offer.

If the PC could do all the things you've listed, our stance wouldn't exist.

As it stands, to get the most out of gaming as a whole, you to game on both consoles and a PC. Those restricting themselves to the one platform out of some blinkered sense of self superiority are missing out.

What Streeteh said basically.

I frequently buy multi-platform games on the PC, especially when it's the exact same game just with better graphics.

However if I got rid of my consoles and went exclusively to PC, I'd miss out on a ton of great games. I'm not willing to do that, because I know that developers produce AAA quality console exclusive games.

Sometimes it's also a case of restricting yourself to a relatively uncomfortable chair when you'd rather be horizontal on the couch ;)
